Sep 20, 2014 5:30 AM in response to Moracby Colinnic2002,I've an iphone 5 and on a 2.4GHz wireless channel. Speedtest shows 44 MB/s, steady no speed issue at all.
Same problem though sluggish on safari and facebook. some photos not loading on facebook or links not opening. Switch off wifi and straight away on 3G the photo will load or the link open. Tried to reset network settings - didn't fix. Seeing the same issue on a public wifi network so not just my Wifi.
What next? Back out of the upgrade? or a reset all settings.

Sep 20, 2014 5:33 AM in response to Sail1973by John369,Yes I also have new personal hot spot that has appeared under WiFi in Settings. Mine says iPhone 5 and 4G setting linked. Never tried adjusting this. As you said Auto channel setting on my Hub did nothing for me either, had to choose 2GHz setting on iPad to resolve problem. Still running with no problems on WiFi, Airport Express, Mail or any of the affected Apps.

Sep 20, 2014 5:51 AM in response to yeekonby Pollgorm,Similar issues on my iPad Air after the iOS 8 upgrade. It loses IP connectivity on the 5GHz of my Netgear R6300 router. Wireless strength is good and it stays connected to wireless, but there's no IP connectivity - I can't ping out, not even to the router gateway. This happens randomly, it works for a while and then stops. I have tried everything, resetting the network settings, a fresh install of iOS8 and a restore of data, static IP on the iPad instead of dynamic - all to no avail. I even tried changing the 5GHz channels and that didn't help. It looks good for long enough to make you comfortable and then randomly fails again. Switching to the 2.4GHz radio seems to work but obviously not ideal. I have a mixture of iPhone 5, 5S, 4S and older iPads in the house and all are working fine on the 5GHz channel. It seems the iPad Air is the only afflicted device. I can't for the life of me figure this out.

Sep 20, 2014 5:54 AM in response to kwfrombelgiumby alanfromwickford, athanks Kw,
i was not aware of that anti tracking feature .
All outpr kit is working fine with no drop outs, but then none of it us younger than 3 years.
if it can switched off, it might be best option to overcome the issue until a fix is sorted out, doubt it will take the boffins at Apple long.

Sep 20, 2014 5:58 AM in response to zsamimaby alanfromwickford,Seems strange that only a few iPhones 5 have reported a problem, in comparrisin to the iPad mini's ?

Sep 20, 2014 6:05 AM in response to yeekonby pp91,Thank you Apple for turning my £480 tablet into an expensive paper weight/rolling up surface. You lovely f*c*tards. Wifi is completely useless and will only connect every few hours for a solid 10 minutes or so. I have done everything i can think of.....restarted, restored from backup, restored as new, taken of the 5ghz frequency, restarted the router and many of the other ideas mentioned in these forums. I am absolutely livid, I use my ipad for almost everything as apple would like me to do so....yet this has completely ducked it. Oh and it also lags going between apps and homescreen. Completely regret downloading let alone looking forward to ios8 during its initial release.

Sep 20, 2014 6:11 AM in response to Sail1973by alanfromwickford,i have BT infinity 2, not the latesr router.but not had to mess with it.
your picking up a hotspot likely you have a device that has been learned in the pst having the option turned on, or your 'seeing' the fon side of your router.

Sep 20, 2014 7:04 AM in response to Avaloneby zsamima,Its pretty simple, search on google "downgrade from iOS 8 to iOS 7" and there are lots of websites with the same easy instructions. You'll just have to download the ios7 file from there & a couple of more steps! none of other solutions work please keep in mind, there is nothing wrong with the settings or the wifi router, this update is where the problem is, I'd suggest everyone to stop wasting time and simple downgrade.

Sep 20, 2014 7:08 AM in response to yeekonby cbdoc,Same issue here. Wifi either doesn't turn on after sleep or if I'm close enough to my airport express will turn off intermittently. I've tried resetting the network settings and a full reset but that didn't help. Only happens under iOS 8.

Sep 20, 2014 7:14 AM in response to yeekonby gldoorii,This is the first time I've ever had such a major issue with an Apple device and it's nice to see everyone responding and trying to get through this together. I'm going to try restoring my Mini 2 and iPhone 5 back to iOS 7 and see if that fixes anything.
Thanks again for posting all of your experiences with this issue.

Sep 20, 2014 7:17 AM in response to yeekonby Marvin Price1,I have the same issue. iPad Mini with Retina and Cellular. I'll be working along fine and WiFi will just cut out. I still show WiFi as being active. I typically have to turn the iPad completely off and back on again to get WiFi working again. Speed tests right after I reset are 112Mb/s down and 5.8Mb/s up. I'm using an Airport Extreme running version 7.7.3.
I note that some people have mentioned that they're suddenly seeing Personal Hotspots from their phones. Well add me to that list also. I'm positive that I did not have personal hotspot turned on but suddenly this morning, it was there.
On the bright side I'm loving iOS 8 in general.

Sep 20, 2014 8:06 AM in response to goonprawnsby JohnfromthebigD,Thank you so much for providing the fix!
I use a NetGear NightHawk Router. The 5Ghz band does not offer a channel of "Auto," but the 2.4 does. Switched to the 2.4 band, the problem solved.
Thanks again for this tip!

Sep 20, 2014 8:06 AM in response to yeekonby wombat2k,So I've had the same issue as everybody is reporting. I've always thought that 5ghz on the iPad Mini was a bit flimsy to begin with, but now with iOS 8 it's been awful. It's been driving me insane.
After I upgraded, slowdowns would happen so frequently it was silly. The only way seemed to be to "Forget" the wifi connection and rebuild it, which as you can imagine is not practical.
For some reason, these slowdowns have become less frequent in the last 24 hours. I'm also able to get past them by toggling airplane mode on and off. I think the reason it wasn't working for me before is that I was switching too fast. I find that once I enable airplane mode, I need to wait for the triangles at the top of Command Center to appear before I can disable airplane mode.
So far it's been workable, but annoying nonetheless and I've only been using my "workaround" for a day. I'm just wondering if anybody on this list had contacted Apple about it? Might be worth to report it if not.

Sep 20, 2014 8:26 AM in response to yeekonby irdo1964,I have an Ipad mini 1 and also Wifi problems with IOS8; I also had the (strange) problem that (some) apps chrassing (for the Dutch eg."Telegraaf" app) when they can't connect to Wifi. I downgraded back to IOS7 and all problems solved. No probs on my 4S with IOS8, so I will wait for an update and then try it again.
