After doing the ios8 update my Facetime is connected properly in the settings, and ive tried turning it on/off & still doesn't work. When I make the call it rings but then when its answered it says connecting but never connects. Also it won't recieve any calls. Someone please help!!!

1. Make sure Date and Time is correctly set; Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On
2. Restart iPad

Try To turn off facetime, then go to settings and reset your network. Go back and turn FaceTime back on. Worked for me!

having the same issue with both mine and my girlfriend's ipad 2..says it connecting but hangs on both ends..
think its a bug that needs to be addressed.
I have an ipad 3 and not only does my Facetime not connect 90% of the time, but when it does connect, the buttons usually disappear and I can't hang up calls either.
I've tried all of these fixes, and I have to say this ios 8 is just terrible so far

I have same issue. It did not change after ios 8.1. It is really big problem for me too. But i think the problem is RAM! After i try to do facetime call and not able to connect, i am opening an app for cleaning ram. After RAM cleaning i am able to connect. It just works every time for me. Some times i want it from the person who i called too. Can you all try it please? If it is true, i think we have found a reason to upgrade ram for APPLE 🙂
What app are you using to free up the ram? I haven't been able to get any help from Apple about the situation, and I haven't seen it addressed in any updates, but I've seen it in other forums. I'm reinstalling Skype, hoping that it will connect reliably.
Huge disappointment that a native app has become so terrible.
It is really annoying.. I am using battery doctor app for free up the ram.
And i found another solution which is helpfull for wi-fi connection. I changed my wi-fi connections DNS as "8.8.8.8" from my iPad. And it has been 2 days that i did not experience same issue.
Had similar issues. This appears to have resolved it. Turn off a Facetime in SETTINGS. Forget WiFi connection. Turn off you device. Turn back on. Reconnect to WiFi. Reconnect to FaceTime . GOOD LUCK
