iPhone 5 iOS 8 Bluetooth issues with Audi A1

Apon upgrading to ios8 my iPhone connects to my cars bluetooth car kit(Audi A1 2012) but every time I place a call from my car the call drops from my car and i am only able to speak on my phone. Sometimes as my phone connects to the bluetooth kit my car dials the last number in my call log but in fact its not calling at all it just says it is on my cars display...

Please if anyone is having the same issue or knows what to do

BEWARE: doing a "reset all settings" is deleting all Apple iCloud documents. Please see link below:

i did this and it is only a temporary fix and will not last. I lost all of my Apple iCloud documents as well. I will be contacting Apple tomorrow, updates to follow

Since loading this stupid IOS8 I have the same problem. I have a Ford Kuga and I can dial out but after 3 rings it cuts off from the car kit but continues on the phone, I then have to switch my phone to 'speaker' which is so dangerous when you are driving. Once I have ended the call my car dials the number again which only shows on my cars screen. I have un-synced and re-synced so many times and it still does not work. I AM SO FRUSTRATED!!!! On one or 2 occasions my phone has dialled its own number??

Hope they resolves this ASAP!!

It's interesting that you saw some correlation with Siri.

I have an iPhone 5 and an Audi A4. Bluetooth handsfree has always work flawlessly with IOS7. As soon as I upgraded to IOS8 I had these issues. I tried various different things and the only thing that fixed it for me was a reset all settings.

Since then, it has been working perfectly for over a week.

Now I rarely use Siri but last night as I was leaving the office to go to my car, I already had Bluetooth turned on and I used Siri to send a text message as I walked through the car park. I then got in the car and as soon as the iPhone connected, I got the phantom incoming call on the car's display even though there was nothing on the iPhone. I cancelled that and check the contact sync on the car and there was only one entry. I got home and turned the iPhone off and back on again. I was back out last night and the connection was working perfectly again as it did this morning. I'm wondering if this is coincidence or if Siri is in some way connected. Does anyone else have a similar experience or use Siri?

I Use Siri all the time to dial numbers or send a txt for me when driving. It (Siri) has always worked beautifully UNTIL I UPGRADED TO IOS8. Now Siri answers with the customary greeting, tells me she will phone the requested number, phone rings about twice and then disconnects leaving the service and the car bluetooth totally non responsive.

I Phoned Apple today, customer support 'suggested' resetting all settings. I have not done this yet. I also alerted the customer support person to this conversation... 21,000+ views and 300+ replies. Obviously a big issue. I was assured that apple monitors these conversations..... How long will it take apple to fix this!!!??? Maybe they are very slow readers!

Hey guys.

i had the same issue with my iPhone 5s and now 6 in the A1 after updating to iOS 8. I've got 8.0.2 now and have managed to fix!!

  • On iPhone under Bluetooth list find your A1 and 'forget Bluetooth device'
  • now in car go to tel and Bluetooth settings > 'bonded Bluetooth devices' and delete your iPhone
  • on your iPhone now , go to about > and change your iPhones name (to whatever you wish).
  • now from scratch sync the iPhone and car again
  • VOila! Worked for me. Hope this helps 🙂

I drank the Kool-Aid at one point and did the reset ALL settings and it worked for a couple of days on my Jeep. Then came the 8.0.2 fix and I had to reset my network settings, delete paired devices in my phone and vehicle in order to get it to work again. Fast forward since then and it's broken again. Clearly, there are issues with bluetooth/hands free connectivity in vehicles ranging from high end model vehicles to average ones. Also these problems don't seem to be limited to a specific model of iPhone.

What's really interesting to me is that once I updated to iOS 8.0, I was able to connect to 3 different bluetooth headsets and one bluetooth speaker, all devices functioned just as they had on iOS 7. The vehicle can stream music, but can't use the hands free calling unless I wipe out settings every so many days. I'm hoping for a fix in 8.1 if not sooner. The painful lesson I've learned is that I will not be updating any Apple software- iOS or OSX upon initial release until I read about good experiences and am comfortable with a demonstrated pattern of stability. I love Apple products but this has certainly left me scratching my head.

So, I've been at this since early on and have tried re-setting and re-pairing many times without long term success. However, I think I may have found something new. The problem seems to be related to the continuity function for folks with multiple iOS 8 devices. I disabled settings-facetime-iphone cellular calls on ALL MY IOS8 devices which disables continuity and the bluetooth/wifi handshaking between devices on the same iCloud account.

While I've said this before--things seems to be working. I did NOT need to reset by settings, network settings, or re-pair either. I tried rebooting the phone, restarting the car, turning bluetooth on and off, pairing an additional device and all seems ok.

Try it and let me know if it works for you or if I'm just having a moment of good luck.
