Q: iPhone 5 iOS 8 Bluetooth issues with Audi A1

Apon upgrading to ios8 my iPhone connects to my cars bluetooth car kit(Audi A1 2012) but every time I place a call from my car the call drops from my car and i am only able to speak on my phone. Sometimes as my phone connects to the bluetooth kit my car dials the last number in my call log but in fact its not calling at all it just says it is on my cars display...

Please if anyone is having the same issue or knows what to do

Sadly, it does not mention Bluetooth and suggests that 8.0.1 was created prior to the release of 8.0.  If so, I'm thinking a fix for the problem we are all having might not surface until 8.0.2.

I'm actually pretty surprised this has not been more broadly picked up by the media.   You have to imagine it is make a LOT of people totally crazy.

I did. Funny: You cannot choose iOS 8 as a running system on your phone.

I just spoke to Verizon (after speaking to Chrysler)  - they said they are both very aware of the issue and have been contacting Apple about it.  Verizon representative told me that this affects Ford, GMC, Chevy, Chrysler, etc.   I assume that this amounts to Apple not ensuring that the Bluetooth version in iOS 8 is backwards compatible with older versions.  I'll go out on a limb and say this something they have to fix and fix quickly.   Hopefully Apple can fix this with an 8.0.X release and not require every car and OEM radio manufacturer to update their devices.

I agree with your assessment.  Unless it is handled by the "other bug fixes" that Apple usually includes in any update, it seems unlikely that this will be resolved by the 8.0.1 update.  There are, however, a couple of pieces of good news.  1) If 8.0.1 is already under carrier review, subsequent updates can't be too far behind. 2) Apple has promised that Apple Pay will be out in October, which will probably require an iOS update, so we know there's at least another update in October.  The bad news is that could be anywhere from 7 to 38 days from now...

Same problem here. iPhone4S iOS 8 is the problem in Audi A4 2011 - starts the call but then drops it .

Yeah. I tried that too (deleting phone from car and car from phone). Several times, actually. No luck. :-(

I have the same problem, 4S iOS8 in a Mazda-3 (2013) has a hard time connecting and when it finally connects to the car BT and I make a call it will not send audio to the car speakers. This work fine with the same phone and car with iOS 7.

If Apple keeps this up it will go the way of BB.

BTW, it works when I use an Android phone!!

Hello Apple can you fix this?

    Same problem.

I'm using an iPhone 4S with an aftermarket Sony bluetooth car audio system. As soon as the phone connects, the stereo display shows a non existent incoming call that I can't answer or ignore. No problems prior to the upgrade to iOS 8.

I had same Bluetooth issues with iOS 8 on my iPhone 6; no phone/no music streaming although showing as "connected" with my 2 vehicles (VW and Audi).

Apple telephone technical support team solved issue with both cars as follows:

    1. Delete the phone from handsfree memory in the Bluetooth car settings.

    2. "Forget" the handsfree device (car) in the iPhone Bluetooth settings.

    3. Reset ALL settings in iPhone (not just network settings)!!

(note: I had to reset ALL settings twice in a row for this to work.)

It worked in both cars! (Hope it stays working.....?)

You will have to reset wallpaper, and most other settings, as well.  Certainly worth the trouble to get car Bluetooth up and running properly.

    Good luck.

I have bad news to you.

The problem probably will occur again.

If it returns, just do a reset with power and home buttons in iPhone and the bluetooth will function again for more some times.

This is a bug of iOS 8.

Please, tell us if the problem come back again.

I tried a Motorola Roadster 2 BT portable speaker phone with my iPhone 6 and Droid Razr M. The Razr with KK 4.4.2 worked ok. I could turn BT on/off, the Roadster would re-establish the link. I could pair it with the Moto speakerphone. I could turn the 6's BT on/off and the Moto speakerphone would reconnect. However if I waited maybe 60 seconds, the paring would be lost.

So it looks like at least some Android phones play nicely with BT audio systems. iOS 8 does not. Apple Care told me iOS 8 needed to be re-paired each time. Seems to me that iOS 8 needs repairing.

Oooops. I meant to say the iPhone 6 at the beginning of the 4th sentence.

I'm glad I came across this thread.  Since I had upgraded to iOS 8 on my 5s, I had been having problems using the Uconnect feature with my 2011 Jeep Liberty.  I was able to stream music with no problem whatsoever, but when I tried to make phone calls as I had on iOS 7, I had to use the buttons on the steering wheel or radio (mine is the non NAV version-CD + Sirius model).  On the phone, it would display as connected to Uconnect, but when I tried to dial calls using the Jeep's buttons, the call would connect and abruptly drop.  I removed all devices from the Jeep and removed the connection from iPhone.  Same result.

I then contacted Jeep and registered a complaint--to which I have yet to receive anything but an automated response.  I'd encourage everyone who has issues with their vehicles to do the same after you've given the suggestions offered by the others a try.

I limped through things for a few days and then found this thread.  I first tried to reset network connections, and remove the device from Uconnect.  That did not work.  What DID work was to reset all settings and remove the device again from Uconnect and iPhone.  I'm now able to make calls and stream music again in my brief testing.

If memory serves me correct, I think I may have had to do the same thing when I upgraded to iOS 7.  Thanks to those that figured this out and shared with the masses.  This gives me things to consider on the next release of iOS.  Hopefully those of you with problems will find resolution with the steps the others have provided and share the results.

    Cheers!
