Q: iPhone 5 iOS 8 Bluetooth issues with Audi A1

Apon upgrading to ios8 my iPhone connects to my cars bluetooth car kit(Audi A1 2012) but every time I place a call from my car the call drops from my car and i am only able to speak on my phone. Sometimes as my phone connects to the bluetooth kit my car dials the last number in my call log but in fact its not calling at all it just says it is on my cars display...

Please if anyone is having the same issue or knows what to do

I've updated to 8.0.2, and I've got partial usability back. Music plays fine and the head unit no longer goes into dialing mode. Siri works normally but none of the phone buttons on the head unit work. Also the noise cancellation doesn't work over Bluetooth.

    It's a Pioneer fh-x700bt radio with iPhone 6

Yes, I can understand that. I have just read so many posts about people resetting network but not all settings and complaining yet a few posts later they do the reset all and it is fixed. My biggest issue is that it happened in the first place.

I've updated to 8.0.2, did a reset all settings, and re-paired my phone with my car.  It was only a single test, but bluetooth worked fine for me, and it hadn't previously.  I was able to make a call through the car's bluetooth without it disconnecting immediately, and after the call concluded the car no longer saw phantom connections.  I'll keep testing over the weekend, but I'm hopeful that this addressed the issues.

I finally got my updated iPhone 5S to connect normally to my 2005 Lexus, but I don't know how.

I've been following this thread from the beginning. I've seen all kinds of fix suggestions but have tried only a few. I agree with those who say "Reset All Settings" should not have to be done, and I never did that. I certainly did not return to "factory settings." I did, however, "Reset Network Settings" long ago and of course that didn't work. I've unpaired, restarted, re-paired, etc., and nothing worked. Luckily, I never installed 8.0.1, but I installed 8.0.2 last night. No help. Same problems as before.

This morning, thinking back on everyone's suggested fixes, I again unpaired from phone and car, then renamed my phone and paired once again. No one else was home, so with my iPhone in the car in my garage, I called it from my land line and went back to the garage to see if the call would be received. I had turned on the radio in the house so there would be audio if my car connected to the call (which it did). The song playing was "Knowing Me, Knowing You" - maybe that's why the call connected…

Although I've tried only two each incoming and outgoing calls, my connections worked and the indications on my navigation display were the same as under iOS 7. I have no idea if my fix was due to the 8.0.2 update (not advertised as addressing car Bluetooth issues) or if it was due to renaming my phone. All I know is that my 5S has made and received "Hands Free" calls for the first time since iOS 7.

Anyway, renaming your phone is far simpler than "Reset All Settings" and it might be worth a try if you're still having problems (Settings > General > About > Name).

BTW, my car can connect only phone calls via Bluetooth, so I can't report on iTunes streaming.

I'll report back if my problems reoccur. Thanks to all who've posted. Good luck!

    Don

After renaming my phone (Settings -> General -> About -> Name) I’m seeing some progress, I can now connect and make calls via BT. One thing to note, before the update to iOS 8.x.x, when making a call in my car via BT I could hear the ring tone, and the person say “Hello”. Now, when placing the call I don’t hear ring tone, and don’t get that initial “hello” at the other end. I’m getting a long pause at the begging of all call on BT.

After updating my iPhone 5 to iOS 8.0.2 and re-pairing both devices handsfree in my Peugeot seems to work fine again. Hope this will last.

It didn't last!!! After the update and renaming my 4S phone, things looked promising. But the very next time i got back in my Mazda-3, all messed up again. This is pointless and stupid!!! I will need to go back to headphones+mic, and wait an see if Apple gets off its *** and actually will do something about this.

    Apple,

Now I know I have an old 4S, and probably don't give a rats *** about all the people that have older platforms. But we, at some point will need a new phone, and at this point Android is looking real good.

    Regards,

    One ****** off costumer.

I feel your pain.  Had that same experience of it working after I reset all the settings and renamed the phone..  Then, the next time I used it things went back to the same mess.

Pretty ironic -- the iPhone is supposed to be a phone plus a bunch more and one of the most basic functions --handsfree calling - does not work.   I'm actually pretty amazed they did not catch this one before it went out.

I picked up an inexpensive Jawbone and have been using that..

I am having the same problem connecting to my Toyota Prado. Siri appears able to make an initial connection to the car but the call quickly drops out. NEVER experienced any problem until I upgraded to ios8.  APPLE PLEASE PATCH!!!

After updating to iOS 8.0.2 my iPhone 5s I've got the bluetooth working fine again with both cars, and my father's iPhone too. I did nothing apart from updating, so I suppose it did the trick for us

As of iOS 8.0.2 update, the problem still exists with my iPhone 5 on my 2012 Audi Q5!

I have tried bot "Reset Network Settings" and "Reset All Settings" although i installed iOS8 from scratch (not OTA update, restored from iTunes). When i reset network settings and reset all settings, the bluetooth connected seemed working perfect, but later next day the problem comes back!

We need an update to the iOS8, i understand that we can not find a permenant fix about this!!

Come on Apple! it is not safe to use phone while driving! and it annoys me very much because it was working perfectly with iOS7!!!
