Q: Siri missing iOS 8, iPhone 4s

Yesterday, I updated my girlfriend's iPhone 4S (A1387 GSM) to iOS 8.  Now Siri is nowhere to be found.  Siri is not even in the settings, anywhere.  When I hold the home buton, Voice Commands come up but not Siri.  Siri was installed and working fine before the update, on iOS 7.1.2.  I have done a complete restore from Recovery Mode, through iTunes today, to no avail.  When I updated it, it was also through iTunes.  I did do a restore from backup after iOS 8 reinstalled today.  Please help.

It sounds to me like you somehow (impossibly) got an update intended to be restricted to run on an iPhone 4 (No S) model! This is just plain bizarre. Have you called Apple Support? Have you tried to completely wipe the device and then try using it before restoring it from a backup? I would try that. If Siri is there before you restore the backup, it might be something wrong with the backup. If not, I would definitely call Apple Support ASAP.

I wiped the device completely this morning.  I put it in recovery mode an then installed iOS 8 again.  I did however, when I was prompted to set the iPhone up, restore it from a backup.  I did not try it before I put the backup on (i was pressed for time, did it before work).  I will try to restore it again today or just call Apple.  This is weird.

Yeah, very weird! Never heard of anything like this before.

I have an iPhone 5S, and have the same issue! I had Siri turned off originally because I don't use it very often but after the upgrade to iOS 8, I wanted to try out "Hey Siri" and that's when I discovered it was gone. There is no "Siri" under General in Settings. I also upgraded via iTunes instead of wirelessly...

Since I don't use it much, I have not attempted anything to fix this, but if you do find a fix, it will be greatly appreciated! If not, hopefully this is something Apple can fix with another update.

Not sure what is going on with your devices.  Siri is in Settings, General, on my iPad, and my iPhone 5s.

Try doing a new install rather than from a backup. Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

You can go through the below link for further help enabling and using Siri:

    About Siri

In addition, the availability of features is mentioned below:

    https://www.apple.com/ios/feature-availability/

However, if the issue persists, you can share the options your getting under "Settings -> General"

I have since solved this issue.

I found the .ipsw file that had originally been downloaded through iTunes and deleted it.  I then opened iTunes with the iPhone connected and re-downloaded the iOS 8 update.  I let the phone update, set it up as a new iPhone and then logged into the iTunes account.  Afterwards, I just had to sync everything.

This procedure is pretty much "going nuclear" but after I had used the original .ipsw twice and restored from backups, Siri was still missing. So this was the only option.  Now Siri is back and everything works good.  Performance on this 4S is actually pretty good; no horror stories or mega-lag.

Solution found after multiple failed attempts. If you have "Siri" missing from the "General" option menu, try this:

    1. Go to: Settings > General > Restrictions > Enable Restrictions > Enable "Siri & Dictation" (i.e. let it show green)

    2. Verify that you can now see Setting > General > Siri

    3. Go to: Settings > General > Restrictions > Disable Restrictions (while leaving Siri enabled)
