I have installed xcode 6, on a mac book pro (Maverick 10.9.5) When I try to use the ios simulator running ios 8 on virtual iPhone 5s, and try to connect to any site that is not using https, I get a blank page stating that "Safari cannot open the page because the network connection was lost" in the simulator. Any page that uses https works fine.
Any clue ?

I have the same problem. I have Xcode 6 on a MacBook Air (13-inch, Mid 2013) with Yosemite Beta 10.10. When running the simulator on any phone with iOS 8 and try connect to any site using HTTP or HTTPS I get "Safari cannot open the page because the network connection was lost" in the simulator. But when I connect to Ethernet I can't access a site using HTTP but I can on HTTPS. Really strange, I have also got iOS 7.1 simulator downloaded and both HTTP and HTTPS work on both WiFi and Ethernet.
This seams to be fixed on Xcode 6.1.1 GM 🙂 finally!!!
I have Xcode 6.1.1 and I'm still having problems. http and https both. It's not just safari either. Other applications can't access the network either.
Could these errors give any additional information?

Sometimes I can get it to work and sometimes I can't. I am getting very frustrated with the instability of the network connection on iOS 8 simulator.
I have the same problem with xCode 6.2 and safari on iPhone 5S simulator (iOS 8.2).
I can see website with HTTPS, but can not see website with HTTP..
I tried many solutions (restart simulator and XCode, stop anti-virus software, etc),
but none of them works.
I had the same problem with Xcode 6.2 and iOS 8.2 Simulator. The response field was nil. I tried reseting the simulator, cleaning the product in Xcode, restarting both, restarting the Computer, turning wifi off and on and changing for a different wifi network. Nothing worked. Finally I disabled the Avast Antivirus Shields and it worked.
This! Exactly this! I was pulling out hair because I couldn't get the simulator online on iOS 8! It was working with iOS 9 and 10... I have Avast Antivirus Web Shield enabled. When I disabled the web shield I got network connection on the iOS 8 simulator instantly! 🙂
