Q: Airplay peer-to-peer

I have been unable to get the new "Peer-to-Peer" airplay feature working.

The AppleTV website lists the following requirements:

"Peer-to-peer AirPlay requires a Mac device (2012 or later) running OS X 10.10 or an iOS device (2012 or later) running iOS 8 and an Apple TV third-generation rev A (model A1469) running Apple TV software 7.0."

I have an A1469 Apple TV as well as several ios and Mac devices that meet allo of the above requirements, yet none of them seem to be able to accomplish a peer-to-peer connection.  There is seemingly no option to enable or disable this feature in the most recent AppleTV software update.

Has any one had any luck getting peer-to-peer airplay to work, or is this feature just a myth?

I would suggest you restart your phone as well (you mentioned you restarted your Apple TV but not your phone).

I had s similar problem with my Mac and right now I am mirroring the display using peer to peer. The Apple TV is no longer connected to any network.

I have had this problem where I couldn't mirror or Airplay content from my Mac or iPhone to my AppleTV. It took me sometime but it finally worked!

    How to make it work:

    1) Forget WiFi network on your iOS / Mac device(s).

    2) Forget Wifi Network on Apple Tv

    3) Make sure wifi (even if not connected to any network) and bluetooth are turned on in Apple TV and devices

    4) Restart Apple TV and devices.

    5) You now should find the AirPlay feature on the device. Connect to Apple TV and here you go! Please note that the first time you connect using peer-to-peer it might take several minutes, DO NOT WORRY.

Important Notice: If the AppleTV and the Apple device are both on the same WiFi network, peer-to-peer mirroring will not work, they will use the network to mirror / airplay.

I  order for this to work as mentioned above, please check the following:

First, please check that all your devices has the latest software updates.

Second, please make sure that your AppleTV is Gen. 3 model A1469.

Thirdly, check your iOS / Mac device is compatible with this feature, links below

Hope this works for you as it did for me, ENJOY!

This is the exact reason I bought my Apple TV, to stream YouTube and Netflix using only my cell phone data. This should be a common use so those of us who don't have wifi access but have unlimited data can watch Netflix on our tvs. Tmobile does not offer and unlimited hotspot plan. Does anyone have a solution?

Exactly my point buddy. I was on the phone with apple support today and they couldn't help me with this either. You have just informed me that BBC works, well let me tell you that Hulu works too man. Just not anything else that I've tried and I specifically want at least Netflix to work but it doesn't, neither does YouTube, Amazon Instant Video, HBO GO, Showtime, Crackle, Youjizz, any Facebook videos, etc.

As far as I knew only Hulu works, and it works perfectly! Now I'll try BBC, thanks
