iPhone stuck on Apple Logo screen after iOS 8 update. Help???

So I updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 8 last night, and now every time I hook it up to the charger, the phone won't stays on the Apple Logo startup screen. It shuts off every now and again, and then starts back up and stays on the screen. Then eventually it just stays on the screen until it runs out of battery power. What should I do??

Okay, so to clarify what's going on, I updated to iOS 8. Once the startup screen came up (the white screen with the Apple logo), it just stayed on that. It continues to stay on that until it runs out of battery power. My lock/power button no longer works, so I can't do the holding down of the home button and power button to fix it. The only way for me to power up my phone is to hook it up to a charger. But, once again, every time it powers up it just stays on the Apple Logo screen until there's no battery power remaining. It won't turn on at all.

Hey there, I am currently experiencing the exact same problem as you right now, only that my computer is able to sense my phone. When I selected the restore button on my computer iTunes, it told me to turn off the Find My iPhone app through my phone. However, the problem is the screen is stuck on the white screen with the Apple logo and the bar 90% loaded. It just wouldn't switch off nor were there any changes at all, despite anything I did.

May I know if your phone has returned back to normal? Thanks.

Hey, so what happened was because my lock button was no longer working, I had to just take it in to the Apple store. They hooked it up, did some things to get the phone to work somehow, and shipped in my phone to have the button repaired, while giving me a loaner iPhone 5. I am currently using the loaner iPhone 5 while I am waiting to have it shipped in to me (which usually takes about 4-6 days). I would say have them look at it. They don't always charge you, but I'd say have them take a look at it if nothing else works. Hope this helps. Sorry I couldn't give you more information.

hi there.

I am also experiencing the same issue. Just like YeahItsEthan my power button is not working however my phone is being picked up by iTunes, but I get the “turn off the Find My iPhone app” message when trying to restore the phone.

pinpigpen did you ever manage to get this issue resolved?

YeahItsEthan, thank you for posting the issue and I hope Apple is able to help you with your phone.

Hi, yes I did! I was impatient and risked everything and held the home & power button at the same time for a long long long time to force it into recovery mode when my phone was connected to iTunes (but not synced). I did not press restore, because everything seems to be in factory mode when my phone first switched on again. I backed it up and surprisingly everything is intact and the same as before, even my text messages and messages in Whatsapp. Not only didn't I manage to retain everything (I was so afraid), but my phone had successfully installed iOS8 as well!

Hope this helps!

Awesome, glad you won. Since my power button is not working(cannot force the phone into recovery mode), guess i will just have to wait for the battery to run out and hope it will be fine when I charge it.

Would be nice to find out the likely causes of this issue. I think in my case it might have to do with the fact that I did not have enough storage before starting the upgrade(at least that is what the phone said when i tried updating via wi-fi, iTunes did not say anything.)

Hi Imran

If you backed up your phone before you started with the update and both your home and power buttons are working. I suggest you perform a reset(assuming you haven't already tried this) like pinpigpen did(this seems to be the "get out jail for free" card for most iProducts).

Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

or you can try this

If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Good luck.

i.e. After leaving my iPhone for 2 days the battery finally died, I plugged it in and it started up like nothing ever happened (I had freed up some space first, not sure if this had an impact)
