Sep 21, 2014 9:12 AM in response to Belambaby NikCh,Home Hub 3 is a single-band 2.4GHz-only router, but 2.4GHz is the band that's caused me least problems after upgrade to iOS 8 so it may be what you need anyway. You can, however, change channels. This may prevent interference from other devices.
To change channels:
Open your web browser and type in http://bthomehub.home to open the Hub Manager. (You may be asked to change the password).
Click on Settings and enter your password, if required.
Click on the Wireless tab.
Find the Channel Selection option and using the drop down menu you can choose a new channel.
First try channels 1, 6 or 11, but others may be better. (Experiment)
Click Apply to confirm the change. Then wait 60 seconds for your computer to automatically discover the new settings. There's no need to change any settings on your computer

Sep 21, 2014 9:18 AM in response to untidyscrawlsby goinghuge,Also also have major wifi issues. haven't tried 2.4, but super slow transfer speeds at 5Ghz. Putting the phone in airplane mode, then connecting to wifi drastically increases my phones connection speed. I few cases my iphone 5S dissconnects, and reconnects to my home wifi.
I have AT&T, iPhone 5s, using top of the line RT-AC66u. Tested next to my iPad Air as well as my wife's iPhone 5c. Those devices do not have ios8 and load 3-4 times faster while doing Internet searches, Clash of Clans, Houzz, etc.
Feel free to contact me apple if you need more info, but this is an issues with ios8.

Sep 21, 2014 9:30 AM in response to NikChby Belamba,Hi,
Thanks for your help; I did all that with BT on the phone today changing channels, and still no joy. Can't connect at all for longer than a nano second. Just don't know what the answer is as BT given up.
Apple think it's our wifi, BT thinks it's Apple. Either way doesn't help me get back online.

Sep 21, 2014 9:46 AM in response to Noylandby Roger Wilmut1,Your question has nothing to do with the subject of this thread - wifi connectivity - and you should ask in a new thread in the Using iPhone forum to be more likely to get an answer. You need to make it clear whether the phone was bought second-hand or not.

Sep 21, 2014 9:52 AM in response to Roger Wilmut1by Belamba,Oh sorry.... I can't connect iPad or iPhone to wifi since ios8 update. I thought this was that thread, but then I'm not very au fair with forums. IPhone and iPad bought new btw.

Sep 21, 2014 5:54 PM in response to Roger Wilmut1by untidyscrawls,Thanks, Roger. While that didn't fix the issue for me personally, it may help others. A family member's iPhone 5 running iOS 8 seems to be picking up the 5 GHz WiFi network fine, so I'm going to be restoring my phone soon to see if that helps. Still, this is obviously an issue for a lot of people; hopefully Apple will look into it soon.

Sep 22, 2014 12:39 AM in response to Belambaby NikCh,I assume in your conversations with both Apple and BT that you have done things like:
Checking the IP address that you router is allocating; it mustn't be in the range 169.254.xxx.xxx.
Forgetting the network (on the phone/iPad); and then reconnecting.
Renewing the lease (on the phone/ipad).
Cleaning things up by powering down and restarting/rebooting.
... as well as things mentioned above.

Sep 22, 2014 1:25 AM in response to NikChby Belamba,Hi,
Yes, done all of those. I bought phone and iPad. Beginning to think it's a wifi fault as Mac dropping connection overnight and my PC wouldn't connect today either. Only thing that will connect is my husband's PC and he's using a dongle rather than internal network card.
Only solution now really is to change ISP providers and hope it solves the issues.
Thank you for your help, I appreciate it.

Sep 22, 2014 10:21 AM in response to untidyscrawlsby Alkemine,I had this problem with Apple base station and iPhone 6 with iOS8. I solved it by "forget network", then connecting to it again. Now 5Ghz works great, super fast (90Mbps).
I used airport utility app on the iPhone, but I think you can also go to Settings, wifi, pick the network, select "i"(info), "Forget this network". Then find it, log in, and 5Ghz should show up. I also cycled my apple base station router as well.
