Nov 15, 2014 4:47 AM in response to jin hanby AltorFire,This fixed it for me. I was getting an ok wifi signal on 2.4ghz, nothing on 5ghz. I have an iPad Air with cellular, I set to airplane mode, popped the wifi back on and I get a perfect wifi on 5ghz.
Give this a try.
Thanks Jin Han

Dec 1, 2014 2:03 AM in response to AltorFireby Piano spinet,YES I THINK I HAVE ANSWER.
i Have had same problem for 2 months since ios8.
SOLVED. Because I use Apple's Air Port as Router I can actually see what each device is doing. (Just discovered this). You are right. Initially all my devices MacBook Pro, ipad mini, 5S , 6Plus, flip flopped between 5 ghz and 2.4 ghz One by one had to change to 5ghz and forget any others. Then saw
on the Air Port App in Utililies how one by one the Air Port Router reset. Then instantly all my files synced, unfroze and became active.
Then i went to each device to check on the same Air Port App , that each device stayed on the 5ghz Channel. The wifi speed was doubled if not trippled. (Compared to the 2.4).
So, you have to get each device to stay on 5ghz and then to get the Router to set/reset.
Tip. Once you set the 5ghz. Reboot device. Check and double check if device stays on 5 ghz.
I am not sure how can see all this inside a Router. The Apple Air Port App lets you see all this On Mac. As does the Uutility/Air Port App on each device.
I am convinced this is The solution. I tried everything before this as everyone else has, the entire 2 month saga. Apple was of no help!
Figured this out myself after over 2 months!

Dec 28, 2014 7:11 PM in response to untidyscrawlsby Pachel,I found out that in my case it doesn't allow you to enter the 5ghz with an incorrect password message is because the mac filter on the 5ghz network was on.
So it seems an issue related to mac filtering on 5ghz.

Dec 28, 2014 11:56 PM in response to Pachelby Piano spinet,TO PACHEL. From: piano spinet Dec 29th 2014
Think you are getting closer to solving issue. My MacBook does not have filter. ? Everything with the 2.4 and 5ghz. Is listed in my router. If dual band router, both are listed. The Apple Time Capsule has an application so can see this. I have the Apple Time Capsule and had to tell it to forget the 2.4 in order for it to stay on the 5ghz. All my devices I did the same to keep everything the same for syncing and iCloud drive. If do not do this, the router and the devices flip flop automatically between 2.4 and 5 ghz. Thus nothing will sync.

Jan 5, 2015 1:18 AM in response to Roger Wilmut1by Brianfit,THANK YOU!!! I think here in Europe Apple may have begun some compliance monitoring on signals on January 1st, 2015 when the regulation came into effect. I previously had my 5mhz signal parked in an uncrowded spot up on channel 100, which kept me out of my very crowded 2.4mhz neighborhood. That worked great, until a few days ago when 3 iPHone 4s models in my home -- all running different operating systems from 7.1 - 8.1.2, could no longer connect. An older model iPhone 4 could connect fine, as could my Macbook Pro, a Nexus Tablet, and my iPad 1.
I tried resetting, rebooting, but this was such an oddly selective failure, and simultaneous on January 1st, that I suspected a regulatory or protocol change from my cable provider or (more likely given the pattern of failures...) from Apple.
I think you found it. Once I shifted my cable modem off the 5mhz band and into 2.4 it worked perfectly.... (I tried using the "Auto" setting on my TC2700 U cable modem in the 5mhz band, but that didn't work and I suspect that means it isn't DFS compliant.
So, woot! And thanks again!

Feb 3, 2015 5:23 PM in response to untidyscrawlsby chrisstratton,I was having a similar issue. On the 5GHz band my download speed was <1 MB while upload was fine. I tried changing to a different channel on 5 GHz and now my iPhone 6 connects great and getting download speeds of 100 MB+. Changing the channel seemed to do the trick.

Mar 30, 2015 2:35 AM in response to untidyscrawlsby Artames,Same issue here with an iPhone 6 and iOS 8.2 : no 5Ghz WiFi anymore. My iOS 7 devices are connected to it while my iPhone can only reach the regular WiFi. This causes problems with Continuity (poor connection when placing calls from my Mac for instance), Airdrop works very poorly (never manager to transfer 1 file between the phone & the computer) and connection is obviously slower.
