Q: does the instant hotspot work with iPad 3rd gen?

I try to use instant hotspot in my iPad (3rd edition) by share from my iPhone 5c (both upgrade to iOS8). The Bluetooth is on already in iPhone and iPad. But when I go to WIFI setting on iPad it didn't show iPhone instant Hotspot. I try to restore and reset many time but it didn't work. so what other way I should to do?

The question guzaa asked is whether or not INSTANT hotspot should work with iPad 3rd Gen, NOT how to use PERSONAL Hotspot.

I have the same question. My wife's mini worked without a hitch. Duplicating her settings does nothin to add my iPhone to my iPad's wifi list.

There is one difference: Her mini has Airdrop, my 3rd Gen doesn't.  But the suggestion that Airdrop needs to be turned on doesn't seem to apply, since turning it off on both her units doesn't make her IPhone disappear from her iPad wifi list.

Finally found the answer buried in the extensive list of Update 8.0 contents:

"Available on iPhone 5 or later, iPad (4th generation), iPad Air, iPad mini, and iPod touch (5th generation) "
