Guys, I (think) finally found the answer.

It seems there is a problem with frontal microphone (yes, iPhone have one). There is one on the right side of frontal earphone (where you put your ear to hear) - if you looking to your phone frontally.

To see if it is, record a frontal video. If no sound was recorded, maybe this is the cause of Siri not work.

Although that, I do not have answer how to fix it (if are problem with cables, software bug, or something else). In my research, I'm believing that is a problem with one of the flats cable. But, at same time, this problem only appeared after iOS 8 update. So, I'm not so sure about my convictions.

Yes Rafael I can confirm if Siri, Dictation, and the audio from front facing video does not work, the issue will be the proximity cable. I had my cable replaced and everything is now working again.

Thanks - I knew my problem was Siri trying to go through my bluetooth stereo.  But it's microphone is messed up, so it couldn't hear me.  I knew there had to be a way to switch it back to the phone mic.  I would probably have never seen that little bluetooth symbol down in the corner without looking for it.

UUpdate:  Went to Apple Store in July. They tested my iPhone and determined two microphones were not working (explains the issues I had) - gave me a new iPhone. Now, 4 months later and past my original warranty, going through the same problem with the new iPhone.

Big help, thanks...strange how something this simple and humorous solved the issue (at least for my phone).

had tried several other possible fixes for my 5s and thought this might be a long shot, but back in business now.

thanks for your post, even a year later it was still helpful.

The "Answer" here is not an answer at all.

Does anyone have a true answer?
