I am also having microphone problems with siri. if i shout the line will barely move/unable to understand me etc etc

sick of all this rubbish turn out from the manufacturer to be brutally honest. rather embarrassing for all concerned.

one problem after another. paying a premium should mean receiving a premium product. it just isn't happening.

hurry up with a **** update apple.

Yesterday I was on the phone with Apple twice for a total of about 50 minutes.  I am having the same problems as described in this thread;  I ask Siri to call someone, Siri will say "Calling....., and then it says "call terminated by network."  Verizon escalated my problem to Apple and then Apple transferred me to a technician who was fully aware of the problem.  Seems like they are getting a lot of calls because of this problem.  We tried all sorts of things, deleting the Bluetooth device and then reinstalling; trying to use Siri with the power cord plugged in and also with it disconnected.  Nothing worked.  He told me that the problem is with IOS8, not with my iPhone 6 and Apple does not have a clue how to fix it.

So i went to the Apple store this morning and they replaced my phone free of charge, and just my luck the warranty had ended very close to the update release date. Im afraid of using my BT again just in case this happens all over again, i think i might just stick with my earphones and mic. Anyone else have news on this?

apple called me back the other day and said I need to exchange my phone for a new one. This after reviewing the troubleshooting and diagnostic logs. I still doubt it's a hardware problem, but I'll give it a try.

That's good to hear. Just be leery on using your Bluetooth just in case it happens all over.

Having the same problem. Siri works fine with headphones in, doesn't work if the headphones are unplugged. Using a new iPhone 6 with 8.02

I would call Apple support or go to store. Phone support was very helpful and after speaking with engineering sent me to store to exchange the phone. No longer have issue with new phone. They tried all sorts of things including full restore as new.

    POSSIBLE TEMPORARY FIX!

I'm having the same problem with my iPhone 6 plus, iOS 8.0.2.  Worked fine for a couple of weeks and today suddenly stopped working.  The on-screen wave moves as if it's listening, but does not type as I speak or even after I'm done speaking.  I do have a few vehicles that I've been connecting to via Bluetooth, but no external keyboard as others have mentioned.

I re-started my phone by just holding the button on the right (top button on iPhone 5), then swiping across...no dice.

Then I followed the instructions someone else posted (thank you!) to do a "soft reset" by holding both the bottom button and the right-hand button and then swiping -- causing it to re-boot twice I guess.  Anyway it worked after I did that.

I just sent a couple of texts and a couple of emails and so far so good.

Apple still needs to fix this of course, but this may get you working again at least temporarily.

Add me to the list -- its an intermittent issue -- restarts and soft resets tried with occasional success.

I have an iPhone 5s and the same issue.  This has to be related to IOS-8 because I use Siri frequently and never had a problem until I upgraded to IOS-8.
