I wonder if they will do the same for me as my Apple insurance recently

expired. They recently replaced my phone just prior to my insurance

expiration and it IS this phone giving me the trouble so maybe they will!

I have exactly the same issue. Siri was working perfectly until I did the update. The mic is clear of obstructions and debris and works okay with other apps but when I say 'Hey Siri', the Siri screen pops up but just doesn't do anything. Its almost like it starts and stops working within milliseconds and hence its unusable.

This is clearly a software issue and the Apple team need to respond quickly, there are too many people having the issue for it to be ignored!!!

Just updated to iOS 8.1.1 and tried again on my iPhone 6+
    Siri is still not working.
I hold down the home button - Siri opens - I speak - Siri doesn't hear me - times out and displays a list of questions I can ask it.

I press the audio button and speak again - Siri still doesn't hear me and again, just shows me a list of questions I can ask.

I also updated my iPad Air to iOS 8.1.1 just now - Siri works just fine on that!

I'm having the exact same problem - tried everything and Siri still won't work with the internal microphone.  I even replaced the microphone just in case it was a hardware glitch not associated with the logic board. No dice.  The iOS update killed Siri for me.

Again, I hate to repeat myself, but these threads aren't monitored by Apple. These "me, too!" posts addressed to a deaf Apple do little good. However, you could help further the cause of getting this bug fixed by:

    1. Reporting the problem by phone to AppleCare - 1 (800) MYAPPLE

    2. Filing feedback: https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

The more people who do this, the better the chances are that this problem will be fixed soon!

The soft reset suggested earlier finally fixed the problem. The software update didn't fix anything.

I did leave feedback and sought help at the Genuis bar.  The reason I post here is that the size of these threads do help inform the community of the magnitude of the problem.  The issue many of us are facing here seems to be relatively rare based on my searches - this informs me that Apple will likely not resolve this issue any time soon and that we should all probably consider giving up on hoping Siri will be fixed or make plans to get a fully functioning phone.

Add me (and my wife) to the list of people who are having problems with dictation not working.  We are both using iphone 6's and IOS 8.1.  A soft reset fixes the problem temporarily but the problem always comes back (maybe related to using bluetooth in the car but not sure).

Same. I have a 6+ and it (Siri) worked fine until I updated it to 8.1.1. Now it won't register an incoming noise or voice unless I'm using a Bluetooth headset or my cars integrated hands free system. I've done a soft reset and a complete restore with no success. I'm hoping the next update will include a fix. If I don't see an update soon, I'm trading it in for a new one.

I had this same problem. I did everything form from cleaning headphone port to resting it. Nothing worked. I put a new screen on before so I had the hex head screw driver, so i took the screen off pushed it more to front and put it back in and works fine to this day. I had to do this a couple of times but every time I lifted the back of the screen up and pushed it to the front it worked. Hope this helps

If I am over simplifying this I apologize. I just got my i6 and i was having a problem that Siri can't hear me when bluetooth is on.

I noticed when bluetooth is on and Siri starts, there is a tiny blue tooth icon in the lower right corner of the screen. If i touch the icon I get a choice of the connected blue tooth devices and iPhone.

if I touch the iPhone text a check mark turns on. After that everything seems to work right. .. So far

same for me with iphone5 - siri wont hear me. It works fine with earphones and of course worked fine before updating to ios8. Went to apple store(in london - westfield) - i was first with something like that.

So they wiped all out, even ios, and installed new, still same. in the end suggested to change front panel - but couldnt guarantee that it will help. my warranty was out, so i told no i dont want to do it now.

    Waiting for fix!!!

And yes, i did supply feedback to apple now!
