multitasking gestures are not responsive with my iPad after updated to iOS 8

Same for me, but only occasionally. The new two finger pinch in Safari always works, though.

iPad Air, Wi-Fi & 4G/LTE, iOS 8.

I can restart them by turning them off and then on in Settings, but they fail again on waking from sleep.

I have the same prob on ipad ai , I have to restart the ipad to fix it but then it does it again

I Believe the problem are the new keyboards I deleted them and everything works fine now.

YYes same problem on my iPad 4. Updated this morning using tonight and all apps keep freezing and non responsive. Seems a lot of posts so hope Apple sort it as am not happy at all

same problem with my iPad Air. I manage to use the gestures after by pulling down the Notification Center and return it to the top.

I can confirm this happens on my iPad Mini too. Switching the Multitasking Gestures off and on again in Settings reenables the functionality temporarily.

I Had this prob too but if you do it slower it works fine 🙂

I have this same issue and doing it slow doesn't help turning the gestures off and on does temporarily. Also have a lot of slow down and crashes with the mail app. i'm ready for a patch now.

I have the same problem with my iPad after upgrading to iOS 8. I am trying a full restore to see if that helps.

Note: No special keyboards involved as one commenter suggested. And trying to perform a 4- or 5-finger Multitasking Gesture more slowly as another user suggested does not work for me and is not a fix.

The only real way around it is to toggle the option off and back on in System Preferences (restarting and hard restarting are not required and do nothing to keep the issue from returning).

This is happening for all variants of iPads and iPad minis.

I have created Bug 18403607 with logs. If you have an Apple Developer account, go to http://bugreport.apple.com/ and file your own Bug and reference mine (or just reference mine), and attach your iPad's logs. Be sure to attach your logs (the form includes instructions).

The best way to make Apple aware of a bug like this is to file a Bug and get their attention based on volume of standalone Bugs or references to existing Bugs.

I Can confirm occasionally I cannot use the the five fingers gesture to close the app using iPad air with ios8. Just use the home button and then I can use it again. must be a bug of ios8 which will be fixed in the next release.

It's a bug that Apple will fix if there is a Bug for them to check a fix in for when it comes to the "next release" or any future update for iOS 8. Since Apple does not necessarily monitor these threads, and only creates fixes for bugs that have been logged by them and the user community, I encourage anyone affected by this issue to take a couple of minutes to file a new Bug with Apple via http://bugreport.apple.com

restored to ios 7.1.2 on my ipad mini, I feel that ipad works much faster and smoother and there is no issue with multitasking gestures, I think I will wait until a couple of new releases.

Also I noticed that my ipad became sluggish after upgrade.
