Blurry wallpapers in iOS 8

I have noticed that in iOS 8 on my iPhone 5S if you select a picture from Photos as your wallpaper, the resolution goes down massively. If you want a hi-res wallpaper to do your retina or HD retina justice, you left with just the default set of wallpapers to choose from. I hope this gets picked up by Apple and fixed in the next update to iOS 8. Disappointing. Has anyone else experienced this?

I had this same issue with a new iPhone 6. When I added a wallpaper photo by going through Setting->Wallpapers & Brightness, the photo appeared blurry and the scale was off. So I went to my Camera Roll and selected the photo I wanted to use as my wallpaper. After hitting the icon on the bottom left corner, and hitting Next, I then clicked the icon that says Use as wallpaper. The photo appeared on my lock screen and it was no longer blurry! You may have tried this approach already, but I know it worked for me.

Yep,..

Also updated to iOS 8.1 here.

Partially happy because it is 'Better' than any iOS 8 version 'yet'

--But I'm with Mr-duong567 in saying it isn't fixed. (you have to take a 2nd closer look, in oder to see it, because at first glance it seems to be fixed)

--Just take these steps-- and see..

Opening the same pictures (picture for Picture) inside the 'Pictures' and the 'Wallpaper-settings' and scale them up at the same zoomed-in size in both places, --You'll see that the one inside the wallpaper setting still seems a-bit blurry... Not overly bad, (more like PNG-like blurry style)

But sadly not pixel-perfect sharp.. (No need for sample placing as Mr-duong567 already profided😉

So with iOS 8.1 it is not 'completely' fixed.😟

ALSO: I did notice that choosing any picture inside the wallpaper-settings is rather slow?

--And did anyone else notice, whilst the "Camera-roll" folder has returned (replacing 'Recently Added')

If you go inside the 'Wallpaper-settings' folder menu, the "Recently Added folder is still present there, alongside the camera-roll???😕

---A bit 'messy' from apple i think.

Hello Community,

I'm a little picky when it comes to image quality. What I did, I created a new folder on my PC called Wallpapers which syncs with my iphone 6. I downloaded a free software called Pixresizer. I load the original picture into the software, select Custom size, maintain aspect ratio and set the Height to 1334 (right box).

Eureka, that solved the problem, you can still zoom in and out but your image will perfectly fit.

Let me know if that helps

Cheers!
