iPod Touch 5th gen won't play videos after installing iOS 8 (anywhere, eg YouTube app)

Prior to installing iOS 8, videos played fine, however after installing iOS 8 I found videos would no longer play. I found this using the YouTube and Facebook apps, on the BBC mobile website through Safari, and even when attempting to play videos purchased from iTunes and installed on the iPod in the 'Videos' app, and when attempting to play videos taken using the camera and installed in the 'Photos' app. I have no internet connection problems, everything else works fine online and obviously playing installed videos does not require an internet connection, yet still they will not play. The iPod is a 5th Generation Touch. Thanks

Try the standard fixes:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
