If you are having issues with the Time Zone settings in Calendar on iOS 8 on your iPad, you may find the following page helpful:

Sep 20, 2014 12:23 PM in response to brenden dvby MFP77,I'm having this behavior as well. It doesn't occur on my devices with iOS 7.1. Seems to be related to iOS8

Sep 21, 2014 5:51 AM in response to brenden dvby CTFaninNJ,Brenden, thank you for replying, however, this was not helpful since the user guide you suggested is for iOS 7.X. There is not an option to hide GMT. All iOS 7.X versions did not show the GMT. It is annoying and am considering using other Calendar Apps, which is just a waste of time and money. I am thoroughly convinced that there is not an IT employee in the world that asks everyday people what they think about new versions of anything. If I knew someone who lived in Greenwich, fine, but I don't and no one says the time is 4:00 GMT when it is noon. This iPad is company provided and I am so frustrated with Apple and their arrogance that I am considering purchasing my own Windows-based tablet and returning the company provided machine.

Sep 21, 2014 8:32 AM in response to CTFaninNJby dougster1,OS8 seems to automatically add GMT to my calendar events. Anyone know how to turn that off and leave only local time?

Sep 26, 2014 9:42 PM in response to CTFaninNJby HofstraJet,Here's how I fixed mine: I noticed that Time Zone Override was set to on with London set as location (unsure how this happened). Apparently, I set up my Exchange account while this feature was on. I turned the feature off, deleted my Exchange account from the phone, and then re-added the account back to the phone with the Time Zone Override feature off. Everything synced and is back to normal. I would expect the same behavior with Gmail or any other provider. Good luck!

Sep 27, 2014 8:06 AM in response to CTFaninNJby Kandids by Kelli,Turning off 'Time Zone Override' has no effect. GMT Time shows only after the iOS8 update, either with subscribed calendars or calendars that sync using iCloud. It's a bug introduced with-in the iOS8 update.

Oct 23, 2014 1:25 AM in response to CTFaninNJby DrAckers,I also have this problem. I spent 40 minutes in a 'Live Chat' with Apple this morning, only for the 'Guru' to say she will have to do some research and get back to me!
It was a complete waste of time going into an Apple Store.
I only have the problem since updating to iOS 8

Nov 5, 2014 3:57 PM in response to CTFaninNJby thatsabbydude,This worked for me. Go into Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> scroll to the bottom -> Time Zone Override -> and select your local time. Since I live in Florida, I chose New York. GMT is still shown on event details, but when adding a new event, it doesn't show GMT anymore, so you should have no problems using the Calendars app again. You'll just have to ignore the GMT Time, but besides that it should work. Hope that helps!

Dec 29, 2014 5:59 PM in response to CTFaninNJby fix1on,I was messing around and what finally worked for me was when I went to "gmail" under accounts section of the mail, contacts and calendars tab and turned off calendars then turned it back on. I also have the time zone override on. Having this on first without deleting the calendar from my device didn't work by itself. But now it seems to be working fine.
