Q: dictionary not working in ibooks ios8

Had the same problem. Tried changing language as mentioned in a thread about similar problem when iOS 7 was out but it didn't work this time. However, somehow it got fixed. The only mentionable thing is that I plugged it in with iTunes for awhile, then everything works now.

I tried every method here and still can't fix it...this is annoying.

I've restarted, reset the dictionary, changed the  language, even downloaded all the unwanted dictionaries, the problem still exists.

Can anyone help ?

My husband and I have the same problem on our iPads. Dictionaries stopped to work after upgrade to  iOS 8. I tried everything: restarted iBooks, restarted iPad, changed language settings. Nothing worked:(((((

If Sync Collections is turned off then turn it on

Fix for Ibooks Dictionary malfunction in IOS8

1.  Open itunes.

2. Choose library, apps and list.

3. Right click iBooks in the list and choose "Show in Itunes Store."

4. Once your on the iBooks Itunes Store page, choose "update."

5. After the iBooks update downloads, connect iPad to computer, make sure iBooks on the iPad is closed, and click choose, File, devices, sync iPad.

6.  After sync completes, eject iPad.

7. Open iBooks on iPad, highlight a word, click define, manage and previous dictionaries should be back and functional.

I don't have Mac to synchronize my iPad with it:((( Thanks for help anyway!

You don't need a MAC.  You can sync itunes and ipad on a pc.
