You accidentally marked this as solved.
Anyway, I found that both my devices were showing the "frequently visited" websites. You can do one of 2 things: Hold your finger on each "icon" and it will let you delete it.
Now, I found a way that's kept those websites from coming back when I visit them.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear history and website data.
So far, that's worked for me. I haven't had to do anything else.

I meant "from showing up" on
@Star Traveler,
I wonder if it's a combination of settings that I have in Safari that accidentally have enabled the above to work?
The settings are the same on all devices and since I did the above, nothing's showing up again.
Strange, right?😉
What are your settings?
Make sure you're not in Private Browsing Mode.
Reboot your device, by holding the TOP button down (do NOT hold the HOME button)
until it says "slide to power off" and then slide it to power off. (Keep holding down the TOP button...until you see the Apple...then release and it will reboot.
Then try visiting those sites a few times and see how it goes.

Or try this:
To quickly see your favorite and frequently visited sites, tap the Search field to see the favorites , and scroll down to see frequently visited sites.
It will show up again ... :-) ...
I know, because I've done that, too, and it shows up again.
You can delete it, but it will show up again.
Ya know ... computers are getting so complex these days that it seems that they each have their own personalities! ... LOL ...
True that! Maybe my devices communicated to each other somehow. LOL.
Why do some searches show up under frequently used sites and ones I visit most do not?
