Q: icloud child account - incorrect birthday

Family Sharing is a brand new feature, so is creating accounts for kids under 13 and I personally think, that the feature isn't implemented on purpose, because otherwise even the kids would be able to make themselves older etc. So in order to correct the birth date, it could be, that you would have to call the official Apple Support.

The intent is to limit the ability of kids to change their age on their own accounts, which I am all for, but there has to be a way to enable parents to manage. The call center representative asked me to send feedback via the website regarding the issue, which I have done.
I have to imagine I won't be the only one to make this mistake. Given that I had to verify my identity via the 3 digit security code on my credit card to create the accounts and I created three questions on the kids accounts that only I would know the answer to, I have to imagine that Apple can create a verification process that would allow registration mistakes to be corrected.
I guess I can always scrap the id I have for my daughter and create a new one, but I have firstname.lastname@icloud.com and would like to keep it.
Hopefully someone at Apple sees this and they add a mechanism to enable parental control.

Thanks for sharing this information - so the reason behind that behaviour is exactly what I thought.
But at least for the next 6 years (until your daughter becomes 13) it shouldn't affect her much. As long as you keep using Family Sharing it makes no difference which birth date you used for creating the account. Yes, let's hope that someone at Apple add an option for parents to change that (and in your case at least until 2020).
