my car does not recognize iphone since ios8 update

I usually plug my phone into an iphone 5s cord that is attached to my radio through the connector plug. Since the update my car doesn't; even recognize that there is even a iphone attached to it. It bluetooths the phone still fine, but I cant play any iTunes without plugging it in. Any suggestions.?
