Oct 1, 2014 8:45 PM in response to adriennefromwashingtonby Tuv,So I just had my longest period of continuous cell service, about a day and a half. I was starting to think that the problem solved itself but I am now back to reality. Geez.

Oct 1, 2014 9:10 PM in response to Shenderson8by dougster1,I Found that if I click Settings>iCloud>iCloud Drive it fixes the problem for the current session. Works quickly, every time!
BTW I don't really use iCloud for anything or even change any settings....

Oct 2, 2014 5:26 AM in response to dougster1by Tuv,I haven't upgraded to iCloud drive yet because I have documents that I access on both my Mac and the ipad. My solution is to do a full power off/on every morning. This too works every time on the Rogers Canada network. A bit of a pain but it will have to do until a fix comes out. Cheers

Oct 2, 2014 5:37 AM in response to adriennefromwashingtonby Dherndon-CHK,Since upgrading to iOS 8.0.2 (I did not upgrade to 8 or 8.0.1), I have had the same issues with my cellular service dropping that others are reporting. I also powered off and restarted my iPad 2 to get service back.
But, I remembered a prior problem with iOS and Wi-Fi and tried the workaround for that old issue and it worked. When the iPad shows no cellular service, go into Settings, Language and Region, and change your language to some other language than your default. Then after the language change, go back in and switch it back. Cellular service restored. It takes me less time than powering off and rebooting.
I do not know if this will help dropped or hung Wi-Fi sessions but would not be surprised given that this was a workaround for an old Wi-Fi issue. Since doing this on my iPad 2 I have not dropped cellular coverage but I expect the issue to return.
I have no idea why language settings are tied to or affect cellular or Wi-Fi but they have in the past and apparently they still do.

Oct 2, 2014 6:34 AM in response to Dherndon-CHKby lilbuba,Interesting- I have no idea why all of these work arounds work for a period of time. I'm still just turning off and on each day until a fix comes along. That is if a fix comes along. I still can't believe that Apple is mum on this issue and has not even issued a statement. I'm getting very frustrated with Apple right now.

Oct 2, 2014 7:00 AM in response to adriennefromwashingtonby carlofrommontreal, from reading all the posts I guess I'm lucky with being able to do a hard reset in order to connect to cellular data plan. My assessment to all this is to patiently wait for Apple to get thiis problem solved asap through another upgrade of ios 8.

Oct 2, 2014 8:48 AM in response to adriennefromwashingtonby wfrank,Having this Issue since iOS8 Beta 2. Back then I reported it to Apple. Bug is still present in iOS8.0.2 on my iPad 2 3G. Please Apple, listen to your users when they report a bug!
My iPad looses connection after some hours and requires a hard reset, restoring did not work.

Oct 2, 2014 2:39 PM in response to trevorfromoakparkby jayeburney,I think you are correct, also. The Ipad 2 is obsolete, unable to handle the IOS 8 upgrade. That being said, why were we encouraged to upgrade? Certainly Apple must have known there would be issues...very disheartening. What a hassle it is to have to reconnect several times a day just to get cellular conectivity. More bothersome to me is the lost of functionality of my Ipad 2. Slow and unresponsive, apps don't run smoothly, etc, etc. The solution is hopefully coming with those contacted by Apple. The rest of us sit and spin waiting to make the next move, whatever that may be, I'm not quite sure yet.

Oct 2, 2014 4:59 PM in response to jayeburneyby Robert_Cote_NH,Eventually, the iPad 2 will become obsolete and unable to handle the processing demands of the newer iOS systems. Yes, every iOS iteration brings us one step closer to this point. That being said, this thread is about ONE issue, cellular service being dropped on a regular basis, which needs to be fixed by Apple. I've found that turning iCloud (Settings/iCloud/iCloud Drive) on and off forces a cellular reconnection faster than a forced restart.
In general, I agree that the other newer iOS8 features slow down the iPad 2, (but it's not a deal killer) - not a big surprise, it always happens eventually.

Oct 5, 2014 3:00 PM in response to adriennefromwashingtonby Amdist,I'll join the boat.
My Danish iPad 2 also needs a hard reset for cellular data to work, but compare to other posts on this tread I guess I'm lucky.
Apple fix'it, yes?

Oct 5, 2014 3:06 PM in response to jayeburneyby Star Traveler,The iPad 2 is not obsolete, as Apple is STILL SELLING THEM on their store website!

Oct 5, 2014 4:09 PM in response to Amdistby Tuv,Another poster advised that if you change the language then the cell service returns. This is true and is but slightly qucker than a full reset on my ipad. I tried something similar that was much quicker and worked earlier today. Just change the country. This is a really quick change and forces the cell to reset almost instantly. Good luck! Cheers.

Oct 5, 2014 7:14 PM in response to Tuvby Jorge A. Narvaez,The switching of the region trick really works. I'll keep doing that until a fix arrives. Apple, get going fixing this!

Oct 6, 2014 2:28 PM in response to Jorge A. Narvaezby LucasArms,Same issue for me and my IPad Mini (Verizon service). Have tried all the suggestions (hard reset, region settings, location services, etc.) and nothing is working. This is really frustrating. I was going to downgrade to IOS 7 and found out you can't do that now.

Oct 7, 2014 5:26 AM in response to LucasArmsby Tuv,This is the first time that we are hearing about a mini having this issue on this discussion (I believe). I also have a first generation mini and have no problem at all with the cell service. Have you been to the genius bar or contacted apple about this?
