Q: No cellular since upgrading iPad 2 to iOS 8

I am unable to connect using cellular data since updating my iPad 2 with iOS 8.  I've tried resetting my iPad and resetting the network connections but that has not helped.  Any advice would be appreciate.  Thank you

See Star Traveller's post above. I did it and it helped overall performance. I believe that 8.1 is also coming out tomorrow and this may help. In any case, even if installing 8.1 it may pay to do a full restore as suggested above.

Sorry for the above post...I just noticed that I lost cell service again...!@#$%^ maybe it will be best to wait until 8.1 comes out.

Just called Apple and they said I should wait until 8.1 (which is coming out on Monday). If 8.1 does not fix that issue I should call again.

Sorry to hear that. I hope that iOS 8.1 does indeed address various bugs for the sake of what I hear from various users here. However, I'm looking forward to iOS 8.1 for the new features it will offer, one being the "iCloud Photo Library" (although still in beta) and the added back "Camera Roll" plus the "iCloud Drive"!

Not a problem. The rest of the functionality did indeed improve.

I wonder if anyone knows if handoff will work with the ipad 2. I  don't see the enabling switch in settings. I haven't checked my iPhone 5 to see if it is already there?

    Cheers

Not sure if this will help.  I am waiting until tomorrow to see (hopefully) a resolution.  My ATT connections is interrupted but it works more often than not.

So, I tried numerous fixes, documented them, and went to the Apple Store on Friday. I showed them everything I had done and they immediately replaced my iPad2 with a refurb. We upgraded it in store from 7 to 8.0.2, but I did not initiate app restoral. By the time I got home, the dreaded "No Service" was on the display. So, refurb iPad, upgraded via iTunes in store, and the same thing happens. At this point, it has to be software/firmware, and hopefully tomorrows release is the answer...though I'm not anticipating successful results.

Oh, man.  I didn't want to hear that.  If a factory fresh iPad with a "clean" iOS upload didn't do the trick, then I don't know what'll whip it.  Apple shat the bed with this release.  Fingers crossed iOS 8.1 fixes this.

So,I downloaded 8.1 at 13:01 EDT, I have driven all over the area, had email up and there we no drops in handoffs. I manually closed sessions, and allowed the iPad to timeout on its own. So far the dreaded No Service has not come back. Will keep stressing the system to se if it will fail.

We including those who "retreated" to 7.1.2 while it was still available, have our fingers, legs and arms crossed as well that this works. I know I'm feeling pretty isolated now, with an increasing number of Apps unable to be updated as they require iOS 8 or later.

BTW, any thoughts on performance under 8.1 on an iPad 2 so far? Or have people concluded that some of the performance issues were addressed once they did a "Fresh Install" as opposed to an upgrade?

Ok so far so good. It looks like 8.1 is holding the cell service. Upgraded yesterday around 19:00 Eastern time and all is good.

Same for me. Almost 20 hours without loss of 3G Service!

HHow about the slowness, stickyness and stuttering animation?  Did the upgrade help with any of those issues?
