Sep 23, 2014 3:50 AM in response to trevorfromoakparkby vin20miglia,Thanks for your help! I've just set the manual selection of the carrier. Now I'll see if the indicator “No Service” will be displayed again.

Sep 23, 2014 6:39 AM in response to vin20migliaby robertfromjunction city,On my AT&T iPad 2 which gets service bundled with my iPhone and a few more I can not find the setting for Manual or Automatic carrier selection. When I first got this device a few years ago it had it's own account and I had more options than I do now. Any suggestions?

Sep 23, 2014 6:57 AM in response to trevorfromoakparkby Okbart,Trevorfromoakpark, I am having the same problem, as noted previously, as well as S L O W and stutter-stop type functionality. I am in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and my carrier is AT&T. In my settings, there is no option to select Automatic or Manual Carrier. Is this option under the Cellular Data tab? B/c it's not there for me. Interestingly, under Settings>General>About, under Network, it says "Not Available" and under Cellular Data Number, it says "Unknown." Are Settings in the USA different than in other countries?
So, I am unable to try your work-around, since I apparently don't have those settings--unless I'm looking in the wrong place. Please advise if I am!
I will try to contact AT&T today to see if they can help.
Re: Functionality--just trying to get this post done has been a colossal pain. It's so slow that the automatic spell functions aren't even working properly!

Sep 23, 2014 7:06 AM in response to Okbartby Robert_Cote_NH,LOL - The Apple feedback page has a drop down asking which version of iOS you are running on the iPad and DOESN'T GIVE iOS8 as an option!! They must know something.

Sep 23, 2014 7:09 AM in response to robertfromjunction cityby Robert_Cote_NH,I can't find the MANUAL/AUTOMATIC option either. My guess is that this might show up only on "unlocked" devices - unlike most sold here in the US where you can only use the iPad on the carrier selected when purchasing the device.

Sep 23, 2014 7:15 AM in response to adriennefromwashingtonby Shenderson8,Same issue here. Hard reset and resetting network on the advice of Verizon support is no help. They suggested a full reset, but had to backup ipad first. Also had to upgrade iCloud to iCloud Drive which is now just stuck on the spinning wheel say Upgrading. "Spinning wheel got to go 'round..." Let's face it, Apple just wants me to trash my iPad 2 and buy new one.

Sep 23, 2014 7:23 AM in response to trevorfromoakparkby vin20miglia,Unfortunately I have not solved anything! The problem is just presented again... Now I've setting the manual scan of the carrier and I've choose “vodafone IT” before lunch. From few minutes I have the indicator “No service” displayed again...
Now I must turn off the tablet in waiting for new corrective version from Apple.
APPLE HURRY UP! I work with my tablet and I cannot go on like this.

Sep 23, 2014 7:35 AM in response to Dep755by Shenderson8,Exactly the same problem as Dep755
>>> Spent close to an hour on the phone with Verizon, reset all settings and account but cellular network still just shows searching. On advice of Verizon did full firmware restore, still not luck. I noticed no cell data number shows up under settings in ipad 2. No problems with update on iphone 5s, ipad air, and ipad mini. >>>> I did not do the full firmware restore once I read this though Verizon recommended it to me also.

Sep 23, 2014 8:29 AM in response to adriennefromwashingtonby Shenderson8,Downloaded new iCloud Drive...took a LONG time to download and install. Did a full reset and restored from iCloud. Problem solved. Cellular restored (along with some of my app icons that were funky with the iOS8 update). Back up your iPad to the new cloud first and then do this: iCloud: Restore your iOS device from iCloud

Sep 23, 2014 8:49 AM in response to Shenderson8by rachel296,I think you might be onto something - I just went to ICloud Drive - turned off the option to "use cellular data" and my ATT setting came back. We'll see if they stay back! ha!

Sep 23, 2014 8:53 AM in response to adriennefromwashingtonby jdstryxlyndia,You will have to downgrade to os 7.1.2 to get your cellular back. I just successfully did this this morning.
Go to Download iOS 7.1.2 For iPhone, iPad [Direct Download Links] | Redmond Pie
