Q: ios8 mail pushing instead of fetch

After upgrading to ios8 on my ipad4 my email, specifically gmail, is now being pushed constantly instead of fetching on the 15 minute intervals as set up.

It doesn't matter if mail is in the back ground or killed as a background task. All my gmail is showing up in Notification Center as soon as its received, up to several times per minute.

I am now seeing excessive battery drain as a result.

Anybody else having this problem?

Gmail accounts are typically a Fetch account on iOS devices. Try deleting the account from the device and add it back via the Gmail option in settings.
