The bar code scanner function stopped working with ios8 upgrade. It no longer works for Red Laser, eBay, Amazon or the Lowe's.com app. I used to be a hard core Apple fan, but I am losing my faith. The down volume no longer works on my iPhone 5 unless you squeeze the top right corner as hard as you can while you push the down button. Bring back the quality and quit shoving the cloud down our throat.

Apple doesn't make a barcode scanner app, so be mad at whoever the developer of that app is and complain to them.
The apps all worked fine before the upgrade. Give it a try you'll see what i mean. As soon as you click the bar code icon the apps shut down. I even re-installed the app.
Ssounds like the developer did not update their app.
Contact them.
I figured it out. You have to go into the privacy settings for each app and allow access to camera. The upgrade must have turned off camera access. Problem solved!
