Cannot Login to iCloud on IOS 8

I updated both my iPhone 4S and my iPad Air to IOS 8. Everything went fine until tonight I noticed that they weren't syncing calendar entries. Neither unit will allow me to Log In to iCloud. I get the message "Verification Failed. There was an error connecting to iCloud" on both units.

Occasionally it asks for my password and tells me I have entered an incorrect password yet I can log in to iCloud on my Mac with no problem,

Any suggestions?
