After updating to IOS 8.0, I keep getting an error where the phone says "no sim card". My carrier is verizon and I have an iphone 5. I have to turn my phone off then on again to get the network working again.

I'm having the same issue. This never happened before I installed iOS 8, and yesterday I had to reboot my phone 3 times in an hour because of this issue, and more times throughout the day. .
I am having the same problem. I have had to reboot a couple of times to get around the problem. My phone was rock solid before iOS 8.

This doesn't help the problem. The problem started on my iPhone 5 with iOS 8 & 8.02 & now 8.1. It isn't a settings error and it's not anything i have changed. While it is easy to fix the randomness that it happens is rather annoying. There is something with the new OS that is causing this to occur on the verizon platform.
Mark, I have this issue too and I use AT&T. I'm running iOS 8.1 on my iPhone 5.
I'd had some problems earlier in the year with this error and took the phone to the Apple store. They suggested I erase and reset. I did and the problem went away for awhile. It completely went away after I installed 8. Now it's back with 8.1.
I will probably take the hour to erase and reset this evening. Tedious.
Same issue here on ilhone 5 with ATT. Did the erase and reset fix it? I hate having to deal with that if the problem persists anyway...
