after ios 8.0 my 5th gen ipod touch is stuck in recoverey mode

i tried to update my ipod this morning and when i clicked installupdate it started to verify, it went on verifying for about 8 minutes and then i turned it off and then on and tried again and it forced it into recovery mode. i tried to plug it in and connect to i tunes it was at 1.58 out of 1.61 Gb when my laptop froze. i had to restart it and when i tried to restore it again and it wont connect to the server now. please help.
