Messages Photos Not Showing: iOS 8 on iPhone 6

Hi,

After upgrading to a new iPhone 6 with iOS 8, photos that people are sending me in Messages are showing as "Downloading" even when they have been fully downloaded. The only way to see the photos is to click "Details" in the top right and then browse through media that has been sent in the chat at the bottom of the next screen.

Anyone else? Thoughts on how to fix it?

These have all been chats that were pre-existing on my iPhone 4S before I backed it up and restored it to the iPhone 6, by the way.

Similar problem:

I've update my iPhone 5 from iOS 7.1.2 to iOS 8. None of the pictures i received after the update are showing in the messages timeline, although they are displaying in notifications and the "Detail" view without any problems.

Here's a screenshot (german)

Pictures that were sent before the update are showing correctly.

Rebooting causes to display a question mark instead of the loading-box.

Deleting a conversation and starting a new one doesn't fix the problem.

Very annoying :-(

Anyone any solution?

Yep, those are all exactly the same symptoms that I have, including the question mark after reboot and photos from before the upgrade are all fine.

I've had the exact same problem with my new phone. At one level I'm glad I'm not the only person experiencing this. Hope it is fixed soon.

Same on my son's iPhone 6...you see the photo very briefly, and then it's replaced by the "Downloading" image...

Same here. Shows as downloading and the thumbnail never shows.

In the iMessage conversation, if you go to "Details" in the top right corner, you can see your attachments (mms) there without any problems.

Hope they fix this soon.

I just got off the phone with Apple tech support. They were able to get me up and running. Try this

settings > general > reset > reset network settings.

Your phone will do a restart and should come back on with Messages working properly.

It worked for me anyway, hopefully it helps you guys.

I also just got off the phone with iPhone. they had me go to settings>messages>turn imessage off.

when I turned it back on, video worked for new messages. for old messages, I just had to click on details for the message and there it is.

I found out how to fix it. Go to this website, and make sure that your APN settings are correct. Once I fixed mine, I was able to get messages without any problem

Yeah fixed!

Deactivating and activating iMessage works for me! New photos are shown now.
