No Sim

My phone has been working with my same sim card. Yesterday is said there wasn't one. I have turned it off and on. I've tried restoring it and now I am completely locked out because you can't restore the phone without a sim and apple is no help since clearly I can not call or give them my serial number without this thing working. Someone PLEASE help
