In previous versions of iCloud for Windows I was able to uncheck the "Show iCloud status in System Tray" option which removed the tray icon. The new version I received via updates yesterday, 4.0.3.56, no longer has this option. Is there a way to hide the tray icon via registry or otherwise? Thanks for the help.

Run msconfig and disable the process on the startup tab. Unfortunately, it will most likely be re-enabled the next time icloud updates itself. Annoying that you can't even right-click the icon and choose hide or disable. The change will require a restart, but to kill it manually, simply launch task manager (right-click taskbar) and highlight the icloud related process and hit delete and confirm the prompt.

I have at times several icloud icons in my taskbar and wonder if there is a bug.
Why is this so difficult for Apple to understand that we want to turn some features off? I hate not having a choice in these things.
Ditto. It would be nice to know why Apple folks changed bahavior at all, and why they changed it to something so annoying. .... Sigh.....
Yep...I cannot find out how to remove this as well. I even sign out and it still stays there.
Right-click on the task bar and choose properties, click Customize... in the Notification area section, locate iCloud in the list, click the drop-down list to right of it and choose Only show notifications (or Hide icon and notifications), click OK.
I so agree to this... To be honest, software which installs itself without any control of altering it's (startup) behaviour comes pretty close to malware, imo.
At least Dropbox and G-Drive give the option to change the settings. But no control panel here whatsoever ðŸ˜
Better late than never (maybe), in Windows 10, you can go to Settings > System > Notifications & actions, find iCloud in the list of "Show notifications from these apps" and at least turn off notifications. To hide the icon too, go to Settings > System > Notifications & actions, click "Select which icons appear on the taskbar", find iCloud in the list and turn it off.
I have found that even with iCloud notifications turned off in Windows 10 the icon still asserts itself out of the popout tray of icons to the main taskbar until you pop up the ^ tray. Since iCloud likes to notify you ever minute it seems of you low storage its always in the task bar. As a result I am going to work on disabling it so it does not notify anymore. Really annoyed Apple. Let me get rid of the icon. 950MB is not almost out of storage.
Same issue here, I customized the notification area iCloud off and hide it.
And this still there with the low space warning I have 1 GB out of 5, this is so annoying seems like a cheap trick to 'force' you to buy more space.
Help me out here, its up every 2 min, rather than buy more space I am thinking about uninstalling.

I Uninstalled. Ridiculous that apple make it so difficult to stop their products running. That episode of south park was spot on.
