Sep 19, 2014 2:05 PM in response to prioretby Bob Timmons,Please review this Apple support document linked below for a few hints on whether a RAID configuration might work.
AirPort base stations: About USB disks
In general, if the RAID device presents itself as one volume, it "may" be supported.....but in typical Apple vague language.....the user is asked to refer to the documentation that came with the device.....in this case, your Drobo, which will not likely tell you what you want to know.
Your best bet is to wait for a user who has done this.....or found it not possible, as I have in the past a few years ago....to provide a more up to date answer. Another option would be to post on a Drobo support forum to ask about this.
If the data on Drobo has been encrypted, there is almost zero chance that the AirPort Extreme would support this.

Sep 20, 2014 8:28 AM in response to Bob Timmonsby prioret,Its hardware raid and completely obfuscated from the airport. The Airport sees it as a single 16GB physical drive. The airport shows an empty volume and it can be written too, which means its able to mount the device. Its just that all the folders on the Drobo that show up in OSX do not show up via the airport. I changed my permissions to R/W everyone and still nothing is listed.
