TV Show Art / Thumbnails Missing On IOS 8

Gear: iPad Mini, 1st Gen, iPad Air 3rd Gen, iPhone 5S all upgraded to IOS 8.

ITunes 11.4 on iMac.

I have ripped TV shows with metadata and art that show fine in iTunes and worked fine on IOS 7 and iTunes 11.3 and before.

Now after syncing I have TV shows with just a grey square where the art would show on ALL my iDevices. I've done the following to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Removed the TV Shows from iTunes. Rebooted the iMac and re-imported the TV shows back to iTunes. Art and metadata show fine in iTunes, but upon sync to any of my iDevices the shows copy over fine but without the art. Each of my iDevices has its own iTunes library.

2. I've rebooted my iDevices and I've erased all content from my iPhone and did a fresh setup with a fresh iTunes library, yet the art/thumbnails don't copy over to the device.

3. I ripped a brand new TV Show that had never been in my library and that too, did not copy over the show art, but it does show in iTunes.

I'm not sure if this is an IOS 8 problem specifically but I'm leaning towards that. It may also be a an iTunes 11.4 issue. Nevertheless the shows do play but it's just annoying that the show art isn't showing on any devices.

If you've got a remedy I haven't done in steps 1-3 above please let me know.

I have the same problem too. 95% of my video thumbnails are missing. For some reason, the music videos are ok. I notice the music app is also messed up; each playlist is missing its cover album and all artists no longer have the "special" photo of them in the Artist tab.

I tried removing the videos from my iPhone 5 and transferred them back via iTunes but the thumbnails are still missing. What gives, Apple?!

not just iTunes 11.4 problem I'm on iTunes 12 and the same thing is happening on my iPhone 6plus so defo a prob with iOS 8 very annoying

Thanks for confirming it is IOS 8 and not iTunes. Odd thing is, when I ripped a movie, added art using iFlicks and imported into iTunes, it too retained it's art. Upon transfer to my iPhone 5s, it also retained it's art.

So for me this is only for TV Shows and not movies. Come on 8.01.

I am also having the same issue (just to add to those who are having this problem).

2 iPads and iPhones on iOS8 will not sync the artworks for TV Shows. Movies seem unaffected by this.
Also have 2 iPhone 4S' for the kids running 7.1.2 and they are unaffected by the artwork issue.

Isn't the Beta Version of iOS8 that's been out for a while suppose to iron out from of these issues before they release it to the public??

I also have this problem but not just TV Shows, mine is both TV and Movies.

From the sounds of it, no matter what we try will correct it, until apple releases an update for iOS 8.

I also have this problem with an additonal difficulty that my daughter has additional needs and can't read very well

Like a number of other people it was not all the films but just the one that have thumbnail pictures in portrait mode. So I have gone through all my films on itunes and changed the artwork from the original picture to one in landscape format and we now have films with colour pictures !

It works but .....very time consuming as I had to delete each one from ipad, create new art work then reload them back onto Ipad

It hasnt happened to films purchased from Apple but ones from elsewhere - such as digital copies which come with a purchased DVD....is it ano0ther ploy from Apple to only use Itunes ?

Thanks for the update and letting us know that the issue seems to be the portrait thumbnails. Hopefully this issue is corrected in the upcoming release of 8.02 in the next few days.

It's not fixed in 8.01, so I very much doubt that it will be in 8.02.

Thanks Tinue. Sigh. I was hoping but....... I'll tell you all what. I'm seriously not upgrading to OSX Yosemite right away after this fiasco.

I've confirmed 8.02 on iPhone 5S has not fixed this issue. Artwork is still missing from device. Sigh.😮

Can I ask how you are finding out this information? I'm in Australia and all that I seem to know is that 8.01 hasn't even been released yet. Are Apple pre-releasing details on upcoming updates somewhere?

Happening here too, iPhone 6 Plus, OS X 10.9.5 and iTunes 11.4.

My music videos have no artwork when synced to the phone (in iTunes they have the album picture embedded as the artwork)

My TV shows have the correct artwork showing on the phone for the show itself, but the individual episodes have no artwork.

My music seems to have the artwork just fine.

Marckmc78 are those Tv Shows you got from iTunes or ones you ripped and copied to iTunes? Mine are ripped from blu ray and don't show any art on the device but do in iTunes. Please clarify.
