iPad IOS8 Safari full screen view disable?

Is there a way to turn off the full screen view on Safari on Ipad? I hate how it hides the address bar and opened tabs.

I'be looked in a number of other places and can't find a way to disable this. FIX THIS NOW APPLE! I'm sick and tired of "upgrades" that make my device harder to use. At the very least, when you change the way something works, give us the ability to turn your brilliant new functionality off. Apple, you are making it harder and harder to continue doing business with you.

Switch to another browser like Mercury which is far more superior than Safari (on the iPad) and much faster in, for example, opening tabs in the background - Safari has an irritating delay for the menu to come up but Mercury doesn't plus you can easily set many other preferred options in Mercury. You can't do this in Safari because Apple seem to think they can decide all of this for you!

I see that Chrome also uses a similar full screen feature that you can't turn off.

By the way, if Apple think it's such a great feature, why don't they have this on their Mac OS software? And also, it's not always the case that when you scroll the URL bar reappears, it doesn't. Try it, for example, when replying to a post on this forum... scroll to see if the URL bar appears and if it intermittently does appear, see how it automatically scrolls to the top of the screen while your post is at the bottom of the screen !!! and disrupts your reading/writing experience that Apple value for you so highly!

SO what works for me us ditching (and very regretfully) Safari on the iPad and using Mercury until perhaps, Apple will give us credit to set certain features on or off, such as full screen.

I read that people have said that they have requested this feature and Apple have listened. I suspect that more people haven't requested it than have but if you don't have something, there isn't any point in asking Apple that we still don't want it!

Actually, it appears he's in EXACTLY the right place for this comment because other browsers were then suggested by other forum users. This is a suggestion that I plan to follow as well, so I'm glad these posts were made. You need to relax.

Apple policies or choices or how the software is designed or assessments of Apple's decision-making process ... are all OFF-LIMITS here!

Here is where Apple has set up a place for you to comment on these things, and directly to Apple ...

I hate it too. I had everything stream lined across my devices. After much frustration of trying to adapt, I'm giving up. I get it some users wanted this, I didn't, I do believe it was even an option in the settings for Full screen in previous Ios's. Guess that wasn't enough for some, I never wanted/ used it. I'm abandoning Safari. Going to Chrome. While it doesn't fix some of the things I really liked about previous Safari, I just cant support a product they change with no regard to a users preference. This could have been an option, not a forced functionality. Side note: I hate how some wanted it, and then act vindicated about getting it to those who really hate it. if there are options, more are happy. Not everyone needs or should have to conform to what we see as stupid ideas. This and Safari's functionality is crap now. Too bad, I really did prefer it.

Thank you bobseufert,

I've downloaded the app and will give it a try.

I think that we are now in a time where people expect instantaneous results for less work (me included!). For example, I would prefer not to move my hand to tap the screen to see the URL screen etc. when I could have easily glanced and seen everything immediately 🙂 !

Although I don't follow other products that much, I think one of Samsung's phones has an eye sensor or something, although I may be wrong... but perhaps a full screen browser on the iPad or iPhone would be acceptable if an eye sensor picks up that I'm looking at the top of the page and displays the URL bar etc... Now that would be 😎 .
