Hello, bobbygstx.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

Here are the steps on how to remove frequently visited sites from Safari. This process is similar to deleting favorites.

  • Bookmark the current page. Tap User uploaded file (or touch and hold User uploaded file), then tap Add Bookmark.

  • View your bookmarks. Tap User uploaded file, then tap User uploaded file.

  • Get organized. To create a folder for bookmarks, tap User uploaded file, then tap Edit.

  • Add a webpage to your favorites. Open the page, tap the search field, drag down, then tap Add to Favorites.

  • Quickly see your favorite and frequently visited sites. Tap the Search field to see your favorites. Scroll down to see frequently visited sites.

  • Edit your favorites. Tap the search field, then touch and hold a page or folder. You can delete the item, or edit it to rename or move it.

  • Choose which favorites appear when you tap the search field. Go to Settings > Safari > Favorites.

  • Bookmarks bar on your Mac? Turn on Safari in Settings > iCloud if you want items from the bookmarks bar in Safari on your Mac to appear in Favorites on iPhone.

  • Save an icon for the current page on your Home screen. Tap User uploaded file, then tap Add to Home Screen. The icon appears only on the device where you create it.

Actually, yvjtnx is right, but not about the thing you're thinking of. jason269's post was just a bunch of copied-and-pasted junk with the one thing OP needed buried in the middle. bobbygstx apparently ended up solving his own question when he figured out that he could tap and hold on individual sites and delete them. Clearing the history and cache only works in so far as you're going to have to keep doing it over and over ad infinitum if you don't want to see recently visited sites.

As for jason269, you should read the original question more closely and then trim down your answer so it addresses the question. What you did only serves to confuse people like yvjtnx and for the rest of us, it's akin to an automated phone directory that's trying to help by listening for key words and then blurting out whatever relevant information it has (which actually doesn't relate to the question at all).
