Sep 24, 2014 5:03 AM in response to raghuseeth1by glider13731,Same battery life problem here. I have a one year old 5s. It regularly lasted at least two days with normal use (normal for me, anyway). Just updated to ios 8, turned EVERYTHING off, no wifi, no Bluetooth, no notifications,no background app refresh, and still watched the battery drain before my eyes. Normal use during the course of the day, nothing unusual. It seems like something must be running constantly in the background but I can't figure out what. Apple! Roll out a patch!

Sep 24, 2014 6:35 AM in response to raghuseeth1by Keiba,I'm having a similar issue. I just got my batter replaced last Monday September 15th (since my former battery was fried). My battery was lasting me easily throughout the work day after the battery change. However now my battery is dying more than twice as fast after installing IOS 8 on my iphone 5. My battery life is currently at 70% (9:30AM) from 100% (at 8:00 AM) and most of the time I was driving and not using the phone. I have a new battery and have done all eergy saving techiniques, this is clearly an issue that occured from the IOS 8 installation. Ridiculous that my phone is dying in 4 hours especially that its a breand new battery. WILL THIS BE FIXED SOON? IOS 8 was suppose to be an upgrade on the phone all it seems like is a downgrade and destroys the usage time of the phone. Tried for hours to reinstall ios 7 to no avail. PLEASE FIX THIS APPLE.

Sep 24, 2014 7:36 AM in response to Keibaby iRoane,All,
again: you need to do to check which app is frying your battery and take action.
Go to: Settings -> General -> Usage -> Battery Usage
For me it was Mail. So I turned off "Push" in Settings -> Mail -> Fetch New Data
and put it on "Manual" (check new emails manually).
Now my battery lasts me a day, although Safari is now a major power hog, even when I don't use it... And I cannot find a good workaround for that.
I must say it's shocking from Apple to release such a poorly tested [critical piece of] software. This is worse than the Map rollout. It would not have happened under Jobs.

Sep 24, 2014 10:21 AM in response to merlin1128by melissal0108,Yep. I used to be able to go all day without charging. Now I am having to charge halfway through the day. Ever since Steve Jobs left, the company has gone to crap. Using cheap parts and phoning it in. It used to be worth paying more for Apple vs. PC, but my MacBook Pro only made it 6 months before the HD had to be replaced and the video card just killed it off for good.
Not cool, Apple.

Sep 24, 2014 11:51 AM in response to raghuseeth1by vyenielojc,I own an iPhone 5 and ever since i updated to IOS 8 my battery is dies within 2-4 hours even though i barely use it. I turned off location services for multiple items & handoff , etc & it still drains horribly fast, whereas before Ios 8 it would last nearly ALL day. Now i have to bring my charger with me everywhere.
Please fix ASAP as right now my phone isnt very useful. The one samsung commericlal about always needing to plug in is NOW true for me

Sep 24, 2014 12:10 PM in response to raghuseeth1by Zerim,My 5s is also draining way faster. Yesterday its battery usage meter said 6 hours 37 minutes of usage and 6 hours 37 minutes of standby (i.e., it wasn't sleeping at all) when I had barely used it. It lost 60% between 11:00am and 4:00pm when I had only checked it a few times. When I reset the phone the drain stopped, but come on. The improved (ie., reliable) battery life is 75% of the reason I switched to iPhone, and I will switch back if iOS updates are going to continue making the phone worse.

Sep 24, 2014 3:09 PM in response to raghuseeth1by georgetheparrot,Same issues here with iphone 5. Also experiencing overheating. Any other users with overheating? I just noticed through a diagnostic app that my cpu usage is extremely high when idle 50 to 90%. In airplane mode, this resolves itself to between 5 and 12% when idle , which is normal. Once I switch off airplane mode, things remain normal with good cpu usage for a while. The problem seems to be wifi. No idea how to solve it though.

Sep 24, 2014 3:35 PM in response to Trueman832by Discount craze,im glad this problem is persistent and is not just me. I and my girlfriend thought this was because my phone was just not getting great connection as I know 'fighting' for service can drain battery life.Unfortunately, despite doing multiple tests as apple states--I did the last of my tests which was switch cellular service off. Well, same problem.
Apple has had this problem multiple times with almost every major IOS update. I'm glad I am switching to the Note 4 once it goes on shelves. They create a new generation of iPhones and have a faulty problem to where it bends-- Cheap materials? (This happend to me when I first got my iPhone 5 then got it replaced due to this issue at that time ). I hope this is fixed.

Sep 24, 2014 4:18 PM in response to raghuseeth1by glider13731,Yesterday, my 5s battery drained very fast and the phone was unusually warm. i posted about the battery issue this morning.
Last night, I closed all apps when the battery was down to 6%. After doing a web search, I delved into settings and turned off location services, background app refresh, notifications and everything else that was suggested on various web sites, including various well-hidden features that I only found after basically looking at every single Thing in settings. That suited me fine because I'm not on twitter or Facebook and don't want to be tracked all the time. I the turned the phone off and plugged it in to recharge. When it turned itself back on, I turned it off again, leaving it plugged in. This morning it was at 100%. After 11 hours, it is still at 89% after a day of typical use (for me). In comparison, it didn't last the day yesterday.
I have no idea what's going on. I only hope it continues like this tomorrow.
