Sep 27, 2014 7:53 AM in response to raghuseeth1by aspen grove,I am tired of having to spend hours on work arounds when I just purchased a new product. Why should I have to fix something that I bought? It seems like I have to disable half of the features that I bought the phone for on the first place just so it will have the basics. Thinking about switching to Android.

Sep 27, 2014 8:02 AM in response to Tommyvercettiby aspen grove,I purchased an iPhone 6 and have been an Apple fan for a while, but I am starting to rebel. I just don't think that how well a product works, right out of the box, should be the responsibility of the user. They should compensate me for all of my hours.

Sep 27, 2014 8:25 AM in response to aspen groveby Basexperience,Welcome to the brave new world of computers in your pocket: all smartphones have crappy battery life, and are now loaded with features and bloat ware you don't need. Either learn to establish what features you want to keep, and turn off those you don't, or remain a user who gets frustrated trying to drive what is frankly still the best designed mobile OS for normal people.
Android is no better for battery life. The top end devices even need antivirus, which uses even more battery keeping malware at bay.
IF you want a phone with battery life, don't own a smartphone. I've turned off all the zooming effects, background app refresh etc as a matter of course. The less things your phone does while you're not using it, the longer the battery lasts.
Unless you're about to succeed Jony Ive as designer, I suggest you learn to put up with the learning curve associated with end-user experience on aging and bloating OSs. it's the only choice you have apart from regressing to a feature phone.
and btw I fully believe and understand those having exceptional battery issues with their devices post ios 8 upgrade. I hope you all find the solutions you seek!

Sep 27, 2014 10:06 AM in response to Basexperienceby iRoane,No, this is a bug. The Mail app uses 100% CPU even when not used. Even when the app is killed. You need to reboot the phone.
Not all systems are affected. Please do not spread these ideas just because you are not affected by this bug. Apple needs to fix this.

Sep 27, 2014 10:24 AM in response to Basexperienceby aspen grove,I own three iPhones, two iPads, an Apple TV, three computers, and have had droids in the past. None of them had the issues that I anever others have experienced with this phone. I am fairly tech savy and am disappointed in the turn this is taking to blaming the consumer for issues. I have loved Apple products and was outspoken about how much I liked my iPhone better than my droid. However, this turn of events in customer service and putting out a product that was not ready to market is bad business. We are talking about major bugs not standard technology woes. My battery life was supposed to be better as advertised. That is one of the reasons I purchased the phone. I am just really hoping that they come up with fixes.

Sep 27, 2014 10:40 AM in response to raghuseeth1by donald bfromnew orleans,Having great battery life with new iPhone 6, still using iOS 8.0.0 (Verizon) - if battery life has deteriorated with iOS 8.0.2 then I will wait till this is reported better.

Sep 27, 2014 11:59 AM in response to raghuseeth1by The_Middleman,I have an iPhone 5 and just updated to IOS 8.02 last night. The power drain is incredible. Is there any way to go back to IOS 7?
-
Sep 28, 2014 2:22 AM in response to The_Middlemanby Basexperience,Sadly not. The downgrade window closed about 2 days ago, apple have stopped signing 7.1.2. I'm guessing you've followed the standard procedure of turning off/on, hard-reset (home/power key together until phone restarts), restore using iTunes with backup restore, then restore from iTunes without backup restore, checking if the battery life is any better after each?

Sep 28, 2014 6:25 AM in response to raghuseeth1by kentster2010,I have an iPhone 5 32 GB. Ever since installing iOS 8 my phone drains incredibly fast. I normally could last 10 - 12 hours before dipping under 30%. Now it's more like 2-3 hours. The even more troubling issue is that the phone is incredibly hot.
I just unplugged the phone 44 minutes ago when it was 100% charged. 44 minutes later it's down to 80%. Battery usage shows Home and Lock Screen using 39% of the battery. I can't kill that. I have tried disabling Handoff and Suggested Apps but it hasn't helped. Any suggestions from Apple support would be appreciated...

Sep 29, 2014 6:29 AM in response to raghuseeth1by Pavla007,I have an old 4S phone and since I upgraded to iOS 8.0.2 the battery life is significantly shorter. I used to go 1-2 days on one charging. This morning I have 100% battery life, now...8 hours later I am down to 56% - and that's with minimal usage.
My home screen lights up randomly, this morning the phone stopped working suddenly for a minute and when it came back to life 10% of my battery life was gone. This is just ridiculous...Apple please fix it!
