Are you sure that is truly the case? That didn't happen for me. Perhaps you are signed into the same Apple ID under Settings » iCloud on both devices?

You are right, it didn't happen in our case neither. I don't know why but for a brief moment the iCloud storage showed up on my wife's iPhone. Moments later, it's no longer there so the iCloud Storage I purchased on our Family account is NOT shared between different accounts...

I hope Apple decides to change this soon as it would make a lot more sense and it would be great to be able to manage storage for all our family devices in one place.

It seems I'm not able to edit my original post to remove the incorrect information.

I, too, have been wondering if it was possible to have a separate Apple ID for each family member and their respective devices, but one iCloud ID for storage.  I have family members with multiple devices and their own individual AppleID for their particular devices, but some have iCloud storage with my AppleID   The Mac does show those particular devices in the iCloud manager. Because of this, I was toying with the idea of changing all the iCloud ID's to mine to see what would happen.    When I purchased the 200GB of storage, I assumed, incorrectly, that we could all share the storage.

I knew there had to be a catch.  I have family sharing set up and I like how it works.  I had to create a separate apple id for each person in order to set it up per the instructions.  I then upgraded icloud storage and was dismayed to notice that it only upgrades the storage on the main apple id, and not for my wifes or daughters phone.  So it seems this is actually a bit of a play on apples part to get you to upgrade the storage for icloud on all the apple id's when we only need 20gb across all 3.  Bummer apple.

You can go on Icloud settings of familys idevices and change the icloud login to the family organizer who has the biggest Icloud Storage. The Itunes login won't change and you family members will start to use the same icloud space you have.

It will also work to use Itunes match on all your family's idevices.

I reckon it'd be great to be able to buy a bunch of cloud storage and share it amongst my family's devices.

Can anyone tell me where we can direct this request to Apple?

I have to use separate accounts if I want "Find my iPhone" to work.    But can't use separate accounts to share data.    So I switched to DropBox for data.

Since we bought extra memory for my wife's iCloud, my iPad signs on to her account.    That allows me to back it up to the cloud (I wish there was a feature to back up to computers & iCloud without manually switching).

But I can't do that with my phone, so my iPhone only backs up to my Mac - and keeps warning me "Storage Almost Full    You can manage your storage in settings".    Settings on-line and on my phone both say I have 717 MB, with iCloud Drive, Backup, & and mail turned off.   Notes is also turned off, which is a real, real pain - my wife want to share our notes and calendar, and I have to have my iPad with me to see them.

I guess I need to return my Mac to using her iCloud account, and only have my phone on my iCloud account - only so it can be used for "Find My Friends", and have its calendar and notes be useless.

I am a sub-account holder and I upgraded my iCloud storage with my Apple ID with the assumption that I was purchasing it for everyone in our family share to use. I find it particularly sleazy that the master account is being used to pay the monthly fee for my upgrade, but can't use any of the storage. LAME.

Is there going to be a modification in the future to have bigger clouds packages that allow family's to share the storage?

Thank you for the info.  For me the important thing is being able to share family photos and videos in the Family Cloud.  Today we us Dropbox.  Sounds like that may be the best option for shared cloud storage among family members.

You might also consider Flickr - you can upload every photo and video you have  - 1Tb free storage.  All the usual support for auto-upload of camera roll. Groups for sharing etc.

Sad that Apple's much vaunted cloud features are killed by the commercial model. I was hoping they'd raise the 5Gb free limit, but no. Family sharing of the icloud capacity would have helped too.

Has anyone made a quip yet about it being I-cloud, not WE-cloud or something similar?

    Cause, if not... first.

How it should work is that I should be allowed to buy a chunk of storage for my entire family that should allocate on the fly between them and I should be able to upgrade in 100GB increments as my family needs more.
