Q: Syncing Apps to iPhone 6 / 6 Plus Stuck

I just got an iPhone 6 Plus this morning on launch day. I backed up my iPhone 5S and then hooked my 6 Plus in and restored from backup. After it was done restoring from backup and starting syncing all my apps, pictures, etc., to my 6 Plus, it gets stuck on the part where its syncing apps. It hangs after the first app or 2 leaving you hopelessly stuck at "Copying 1/102 Apps". I have tried simply canceling the sync by clicking the X under devices in iTunes. Unfortunately, this will pop up a window under iTunes that says something to the effect of "Completing Sync" and there it hangs endlessly, forcing you to force quit out of iTunes and try again. But even after trying again, it will still get stuck after 2 or 3 apps.

Is anyone else having this issue? Found a fix to this? Please let me know.

New iPhone6+, iTunes backup of 5S, attempted restore to 6+ -- got only 1/10 my apps.

Several tries/retries, no joy. Not amusing.

Did Airplane mode, and NEW CABLE and *presto* -- all apps restored.

Reminder: Gmail 2-factor authenication accounts require new password generated via browser.

To transfer data from iPhone 5S to iPhone 6 Plus, you can use iTunes or iCloud

to backup your iPhone 5S and restore to iPhone 6 Plus.

Transfer content from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a new device.

If you think it's a little time-consuming and don't want to restore from a backup,

you can try some third-party tool, like MobileTrans, a phone to phone transfer tool.

BTW, if you just want to transfer the photos in Camera on iPhone 5S,

you can mount iPhone 5S as an external hard drive , find the DCIM folder and export photos to computer.

Then, use iTunes to sync these photos to your iPhone 6 Plus.

I think I found the problem.  You have to go to itunes and update all the apps.  I had to update approximately 150 apps.  Once they are updated then they sync properly to the iphone.  Most of the stall is because itunes syncs the old apps from its library and then the iphone has to wait to update the app to the latest version and that takes forever.

So go to itunes, update all the apps first then try syncing the apps again.  That solved my problem.

See my latest post but the issues is that you have to update all the apps on itunes first before syncing.  Since the iphone gets updates on the apps all the time, it uses the latest version.  The apps in Itunes are older versions unless you remember to update the apps in itunes on a weekly basis.

The stall is due to itunes loading the old apps that may not be compatible with your version of IOS and so the iphone has to go and get an update over the air which causes the stall.

I tried a number of things, but what finally fixed it for me was this:

Before you restore to your new iPhone 6s, BE SURE that you have UPDATED ALL YOUR APPS IN ITUNES first. Remember that iOS 9.0.1 came out, and about 50 of my apps needed to update. Once I updated everything in iTunes, then the phone synced quickly like it should have.

I was also having the issue with my apps not syncing. I tried to call Tech Support several times and they could not hear me on the other end and would simply HANG UP on me. One technician asked if I was on a Blue Tooth Device. I was not. However, I noticed that my Blue Tooth was activated on my phone. I turned  that off. Suddenly the techs could hear me without issue and my apps began to sync.

If this can save someone three hours of frustration like I just experienced....GREAT.

    WI FI  on

    BLUETOOTH off

Sync with this iPhone over WIFI is checked.

WRONG....THIS DID NOT HELP with downloading my applications. I got all excited because the apps on my phone suddenly switched from the name of the application under each icon to "waiting" but the "waiting" eventually just switched back to the name of the app and nothing happened.

My apps were completely hung up as well, except for those which were 'native' to the iPhone (music, news, pay, etc.).  Tried all kinds of things.  What finally worked for me was this:

    1.  Visited iCloud, signed out.

    2.  Visited iTunes store, signed out.

    3.  Re-started iPhone.

    4.  Logged back in to iCloud.

    5.  Logged back in to iTunes

The apps did not sync on their own, but which I touched them, they immediately began downloading.  Had to touch each one.

Option 2 worked for me, not only did I force quit iTunes but I restarted my iPhone 6 as while.
