Q: Password Incorrect after IOS 8 update

I have been receiving several of these Password Incorrect messages when I try to check my email accounts since updating to IOS 8.  This is happening several times a day and I have to reenter the passwords and a few hours later I will get the same message again. My saved password for Facebook also keeps deleting itself automatically and I have to reenter it several times a day.  I have done a master reset of my phone and I've also delete my mail accounts and reinstalled them and I'm still getting the same message.  I'm attaching a photo of one of the messages that is popping up on my phone.

    Add me to this list of annoyed users. This password incorrect message is very very frustrating. This started happening after when updated my 5s to ios 8.

    Yes! I've been having this same pop up to enter my password for a gmail account (for all three synced on my phone) frequently, but intermittently since updating iOS. The only thing that finally worked was opening up my email account on another computer, going to 2step verification and generating an app specific password to put in place of my personal one...it walks you through step by step. Hope it helps others!

    If you have two-step verification, I have the answer for you...because of the extra layer of protection, iphone needs a specific password generated by Google. Go here to get yours:  https://support.google.com/mail/answer/1173270?hl=en

     

    Sorted me out after so many annoying password wrong notifications. I was going barmy trying to figure it out. Happy Gmailing!

    I have the same problem. Just updated my  work I phone 5s.  My exchange/work mail keeps giving me the "incorrect password" response. It updated briefly this am, then stopped. I've typed in in the password multiple times and it wont accept it. Also rebooted and typed in the password in the settings part of the email account and still nothing. So now I cant' get my work calendar or email. BIG problem. Any suggestions?  I would call our work IT folks but they had sent out an email telling us not to update several weeks ago so I feel a little sheepish calling them !!!

    I have the same problem. I have two step verification and 8.1.1 and I have reset the whole thing and reset the password a couple of times. Only to find it does not remember it. Again.

     

    Very annoying. Would be great to have Apple solve this problem.

    • Deactivate 2-step verification on your Gmail account first
    • Add the Gmail account on your new iPhone 6, i.e. Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars
    • Save and go to Mail Inbox
    • Check that mail downloads
    • Reactive 2-step verification on your Gmail account by going through the complete activation process

    You don´t have to deactivate 2-step verification on your Google account at all.

     

    All you have to do is generate an app specific password while you are logged into your Google account as usual.

     

    This is how you go about it:

    On your iPhone you tap "Settings" and scroll down to locate "Mail, Contacts, Calendars".

     

    Tap the account you are having problems with, for example "Gmail". At the top you mail adress will be listed. When you tap it, it will direct to a new window showing details in your account. Tap the field next to "Password", (filled with a line of dots) and type in the password generated in Google earlier.

     

    You are done.

    Is anyone still having this issue? I'm having the same problem with my exchange account (not gmail!) - even worse, after it has generated severAl 'password incorrect' messages which I can't escape from it locks me out of my email account, so i can't even get on using a web browser. Desperate for a solution if anyone has one!

    This issue with my exchange account started for me yesterday. Today, I downloaded the latest software update, and I'm still having the issue.
