I'm sorry, but Apple does not provide a downgrade path for iOS. Because downgrading is unsupported by Apple we cannot discuss it on these forums.

It was an option, you chose to turn it on, may I ask why you would do that if you can't use it?

    There is no "downgrade"

I do not think that this "such" clear. I knew of those issues an even I (probably) ran into this mess, by accident.

Personally I will try to sort that out with the German support team on monday.

My story, so far: I  still use an iPad2, and there were some apps, that were known to have problems with iOS8 (the manufacturer informed by himself and proactive!) - so I did not switch for quite some time. Also I still use an 3Gs (I got some accessories which only work with an 3Gs, like my old 2011 mercedes OEM handsfree), and I already knew of those problems with iCloud drive.

After it was officially announced by the manufacturers off those iPad apps I often use, that everything should be working with iOS8 and it seemed that there were problems with iOS7 instead - I decided to do the upgrade. (At that point in time iOS 8.1). Also I already made the upgrade for Yosemite on my MacBookPro and I it worked fine. During that time I successfully managed to avoid activation of iCloud drive.

But the upgrade of the iPad was more troublesome. First I tried the "over the air upgrade" and it did not work, I tried to erase some seldomly used apps, still not working, tried iTunes and Apple Configurator, still not working. All of that multiple times and with changing configurations. Erased my iPad completely and setted it up as a new device (probably the activation of iCloud Drive happened there, without being asked for it), but it was still not working. I tried another internet connection - the upgrade finally worked! (Probably the firewall of my router causes this issue. I was able to download the new firmware over the air and via iTunes, but I was not able to get the necessary connection to the apple update servers at installation).

Again, I resetted my iPad completely, set it up to do an iCloud recovery, and it seemed to be all fine...

Later I figured out, that my 3Gs asks for my apple-password over and over again (I hate it!), and Photostream seems to be out of order now.

So I never intentionally said yes for iCloud Drive, but I probably accidently activated it.
