Q: iphone 6 camera not working

I got the iphone 6 in 2015 Jan, and my camera is not working.  All I see is black and I can't take a picture. After I reboot iphone 6, the camera is still not working. I update IOS 8.2, and it is no used that iphone 6 camera is still not working. I think it is not software problem!!! So disappoint and angry!!!!  I hope apple costumer service could help me!

i bought an iphone 6 and it has some problem with camera while changing from photo to video to slowmotion to time lapse some times the screen is getting black or blur image. wat to do? help me

my iphone 6 plus 64G got the same problem. first it went well with the camera then days after upgraded to ios 8.2, the rear camera began to flicker while focusing, then stuck in a blurred picture. and that's the good situation.

later on, most of the time when i try to open the camera app, it's stuck in blackout. only a balck screen.

i tried both factory reset and downgrade to stock ios 8.1.3, not working.

so i guess its not a software issue.

ppl say that might be the ois hardware problem, anyone got a clue?

i just switched from google nexus to apple in hope of a better quality, sadly, apple ***** all the way...

This seriously JUST happened to me. I've had my iPhone 6 for 3 months now, with absolutely no camera problems. Updated to iOS 8.2 a few days ago and have taken at least 30 pictures since then. Then tonight I used snapchat and then it randomly turned to a black screen. Now when I open the camera app and attempt to take a picture, it immediately kills the app. No picture is showing up for FaceTime, either. I made an appointment at the Genius Bar for tomorrow, and I'm thinking I'll just have to replace it. So frustrating.

First, I made a backup of my phone. Then I did settings>general>reset>reset all settings. It then deleted my background, touch ID, passwords, notifications, etc., but the camera still did not work.

Then I decided to wipe the whole iPhone using settings>general>reset>erase all settings and content and then set it up from new to the backup I had just created. After an hour of loading all my info back on the phone, NOW THE CAMERA WORKS. YAY. All my apps haven't yet been downloaded, but it was worth it. It also saves me a trip to the apple store! Hopefully this helps someone!

but as i mentioned, they sometimes do work well than most of the time.

do apple products have such poor quality, or is it so since Jobs passed away

Yeah... another update.

Today it was working for about 12 hours and then went out again. I called Apple and she told me to reset it again as a new iPhone and not from a backup to determine whether it's a software or a hardware issue. I did, and then it was still an issue. So I guess it's a hardware issue! I then set it up from my original backup. Hopefully I'll be able to get it replaced in a couple of days.

Today eve replaced the phone with new one but the same problem is existing highly disappointed with apple

I bought an Iphone 6 on March 8, then I came back to Brazil on March 9. Around March 25th, both camera stopped working. My phone is model A1586, that is not ratified here by ANATEL, so they told me that they can't give me any support here in Brazil, any support. Already tried the reset and the restore, nothing worked. My father went to the United States, just for a business meeting, so he had only a few hours to go to apple store, in Denver. They told him they need and specilist to open the IPHONE, who was not there at the time, so they could do nothing. Is that for real? My dad was on a rush, so went to the airport with the same iPhone 6, nothing was solved. So, now I'm with the brand-new broken Iphone 6 here in Brazil, and can't get any support here.

If anyone can help, since Apple don't contact me here in Brazil.. Already sent e-mail, called...

Nice..... So even if Apple answer me someday, and I get a new phone, they won't give a screen protector? And I bought it there as well...

This crazy iPhone 6's camera displayed a solid black screen and I couldn't flip the lens or take a pic.  I closed all running apps but it had no effect.  I powered the phone down and it had the faded circling shutdown symbol for like 30sec, and the assistive touch button was also faded out.  The phone eventually powered down and I was able to restart and take the pic.  The iPhone 6 has been acting all sorts of crazy since getting it in 12/14.  There are more issues with this phone in the first few months than there was with my iPhone 4S, and I used that for almost 3 years!  I never even updated the iOS, but eventually I couldn't send pics out using iMessage.  Strange.

I have the same issue. After turning on camera it quickly went to black and i can not take any picture on my iPhone 6 plus at all. I just get my iPhone 6 plus this week and now has this problem.

Mine is an iPhone 6 Plus 16GB

I've had the 6 Plus 64gb since it came out. I never had this problem until about 2 days ago, and I've tried everything besides go up to the Apple Store. Did you have AppleCare on your phone? This is the 1st phone I didn't get AppleCare for, and I'm worried that they will make me pay full price for a new phone.

This is a replacement iPhone 6 plus 64gb I got it like 2-3 months ago after my original one from November 2014 was bent. They didn't reimburse me for my screen protector since I did not buy it from Apple as well. After power cycling the phone and then resetting the phone (holding the power and home button at the same time) and updating to latest iOS from 8.1. It's still not working. Both camera are blacked out. And instagram is giving an error. I'm heading to the Apple Store now.

Update. They replaced my phone no problem. The Genius Bar tech said its a common issue with iPhone 6 plus this issue and fuzzy pictures and focusing.
