Q: iPhone 6 passcode suddenly NOT working

I was using my iPhone 6.  I went to use finger print recognition and nothing happened.  So I went to enter my passcode and it wouldn't work!  I haven't changed it all either.  SO this is very odd.  The only choice I have is to do a factory restore.  I hope this doesn't happen again.  Anyone else experiencing this with the new Iphone 6?

I changed my 4 digit passcode tonight and told it to my wife. We both entered it successfully, and then it stopped working. We did this independently, so it's not user error.

I can't enter it twice because it auto denies it after 4.

Great Apple...Just in time on new year it stopped working. Horrible.

I haven't done anything. I have noted down the passcode and rechecked.

I entered the passcode correctly. But suddenly it says the passcode is not

    correct.

I am still looking for a solution other than restore.

Just happened to me.  Iphone 6S Plus.  Have been using the device all day, read some news on Twitter and Apple News feeds, then set it down.  15 min later, picked it up and it would not unlock with my fingerprints.  It actually behaved like the fingerprint function wasn't working at all.  Went in to try the password and it wouldn't accept it at all.  I'm not locked out for 15 min and things are looking grim for a fix.  Will probably need to wipe the device and start from scratch.  Honestly this is a mess, even with backups taken it's going to take days to get all the BYOD work apps re-authorized and functioning normally.  UGH

Same problem.  Come on, Apple!  Fix it!  At a minimum, you should acknowledge it is a problem.

this just happened to me today.  I turned my phone off to apply a new screen protector, and turned it back on again.

Now the pin-code I have been using for about a year no longer works.!!

    So many photos!.

Luckily I did a backup last week, but that's beside the point. what if life depended on an email that had just come in? or I needed to check some medical graph I had on my phone notes.? come on.!

    EDIT:

I figured if I'm going to have to do a restore and I'm not at home at the moment, I may as well keep trying - even if it bricks, I can do a restore in recovery mode.!

So.. After about 15 goes and 60min of waiting (due to lockouts) with the SAME PIN CODE - the phone just unlocked... Just like that.!!

Now its accepting my thumb, I'm Going to back it up again tonight.

    what a bug.!!!!

Brand new iPhone 6S plus I just picked up literally 8 hours ago. Went through the entire process of performing an upgrade on the new phone, then restoring the data from my iTunes backup. Used the EXACT SAME 4 digit code I've been using since my iPhone 3g. There is absolutely ZERO chance that I am typing in the wrong code. How do I know?  Because I've had to type the code in several times during the restore and upgrade processes. So I know for a FACT that the code is correct.

Now the phone is disabled and unusable. And I hear that I may have to wait up to an hour before I can do a reset.  What the **** is going on here?  And the comments about it not working being user error are arrogant and inaccurate. This is an ISSUE. Apple, you need to solve this or provide better information to users so we can figure out what's going on.

I seriously cannot believe no one has responded to this issue with anything other than erase and restore your phone. That's extremely disappointing.

At any rate, here is what I am doing right now. I had enabled Find my iPhone when I performed the restore.  So I logged in to iCloud and erased my phone remotely.  This even works if the phone is locked. Luckily I've only the thing for a few hours so I haven't put any new content on it. At any rate, the phone was remote wiped, and I am now connected to iTunes on my iMac performing a restore.

When it's is completed. I will be video recording me typing in the passcode.  So for the purposes of this test, the code will be 1357.  Yes, I am putting the passcode here, no that will not remain my code if the issue is resolved. I will then video record me entering the passcode.  If the passcode works, then I will leave that code for a short period of time. If the passcode fails, I will video record myself entering the 1357 passcode and the subsequent failure. My intention will be to demonstrate that this is not a "user error" or "forgotten passcode".

This will get VERY irritating VERY quickly if I have to do restores every few days because of a passcode problem.

I have input the CORRECT passcode and my iphone 6s on latest OS will not unlock.  I know this is the correct passcode because it is the same I use on my ipad mini which I have been able to unlock all day no problem.  My phone is disabled and after reading different forums it seems the only fix is to do a restore and delete everything on my phone???  I even tried to connect my phone to my computer, open itunes as suggested and then input the passcode.  This also didn't work.  Apple please help!  My phone is useless and I really do not want to have to restore and lose everything.  I have synced a week ago, but will lose all new info in the past week.  Not good.

I disagree. I know my password by heart and had just entered it a few times today and then once again about an hour ago and I began getting "wrong password" messages and now my iPod is locked. So, the password IS correct and it seems to me what has happened is that the iPod has become defective. This is one a series of baffling problems I've had over the years with Apple products, and I think it's finally the incentive I need to get away from iTunes and iPods altogether and find a more acceptable way to listen to my music.

This happened to me today.  I know exactly what my 4 digit passcode is, but my iPhone 6S quit accepting it today.  Irritating.

It just happened to me. I unlocked my iphone 6s plus with my fingerprint 2 hours ago to check email. 30 mins later when I wanted to use it again, it started refusing to accept my fingerprint or passcode. Come on! it's just 4 digit passcode I used everyday for last 5 months on this phone and and last few years on any iPhone I've ever used. It just CANNOT BE WRONG! What a crap!

APPLE IS DOING SOME AB testing and letting users suffer.. I think its better to stop using beta updates.

I have been using a passcode for 2 years and all of a sudden it stopped working...

S**ty apple. I think this is a 6 digit passcode bug?
