Slow Wifi on iPhone 6 Plus

Anyone experiencing really slow WiFi on their new iPhone 6 Plus? Mine is super slow. When I switch off WiFi, LTE works perfectly and very snappy. I didn't have any issues with my 5s and not having issues with my iPad Air. I doubt it's an iOS 8 issue because the 5s and iPad Air are running iOS 8. WiFi also works fine on my 13" MacBook Pro Retina. It's not a router issue. Any ideas??

Hi,

I am also having issues on my iPhone 6plus 64gb which is running IOS 8.0.2. I have reset the network settings on the phone. I am using with the following equipment: Apple Airport Extreme and Apple Airport Express.

I have fully reset the Extreme and Express re-flashed then and setup from new but this does not resolve the issue.

The WIFI speeds are fine when I test on my laptop in other rooms I get 72Mbs on my Mac if I test with my iPhone 6 plus I only get around 30mbs. This is present on both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequency.

I am also using WPA2 and changed the encryption key. I am at a loss as to what else I can try next? Does anyone know when IOS 8.0.3 will be coming out? Or where you can download a beta version to test to see if it helps resolve the issue?

All,

I tried the escrge 1843 method (iPad Air 2 WiFi Connectivity Issues: RESOLVED) last night and it definitely made things a lot more stable but speed was affected. My usual Speedtest app gives me 50 Mbs Down but after setting the networks to 5ghz - A only and 2.4ghz to B/G the maximum I was able to achieve was 25 Down.

Even after sleep and wake for several hours two out of three devices (IPad Air 2 and 5S) remained connected but unfortunately my iPhone 6 Plus which was behaving better on the previous 5ghz setting lost connection this morning and I had to toggle Wi-Fi on/ off.

So in summary this method is the best temporary fix to date (especially for Linksys/Cisco routers) albeit not perfect for all IOS devices in the same household.

I'm definitely going to buy the new ASUS AC68 router which I think will solve the problem as I'm hearing good reports from numerous sources!

I got rid of my Linksys EA4500 and got the ASUS RT-AC68U - AC1900. I was due an upgrade to get on the AC standard anyway so wasn't overly annoyed!

Since testing it over the weekend it seems that my Wi-Fi issues have been resolved. I haven’t had a single drop or had to toggle the Wi-Fi switch on/off to get it the connection live again. Speeds have been consistent and this is across all my devices including :

iPhone 6 Plus

iPad Air 2

iPhone 5S

Macbook Pro Retina – 2012 non AC version

I hope this lasts but so far so good although I appreciate this is a deep routed iOS 8 problem that only occurs with certain router brands / chipsets.

Either way apple need to resolve this in the next update for the vast majority of us and this certainly shouldn’t force us to upgrade our existing equipment!

Good luck to all and I’ll post back if things start to get sour again!!

I had success after activating the 5 GHZ Network under wireless option on my new Airport Extreme.

I tried the majority of solutions mentioned throughout this thread with no success. My new iPhone 6 Plus had super slow speeds (.2 mb per second). I noticed my iPad had similar slow speeds. My MacBook Pro was getting the usual speeds of around 40 to 60 MB per second. I have all my OS's and iOS's up to date. After activating the 5 GHZ network, my iPhone 6 Plus started showing 120 MB per second speeds. I had most of my devices start using the 5 GHZ network and all started showing faster speeds. Some of my older devices (XBOX 360 and a Blu Ray player) I left on the 2.4 GHZ network.

I would guess that this problem/feature is associated with iOS 8.1 and would likely be fixed in the next update (hopefully).

I have the 87R as well, and it works great for everything except my 6 plus... mere moments ago I had speeds of 80 mbps up and down on the 6 plus, and without changing anything, it is now down to 6 mbps down and 65 mbps up. The upload speed always barely changes and the download speed always seems to drop. Any ideas? I have tried all of the recommended fixes I could find and no luck.
