Sep 21, 2014 6:37 AM in response to Mikef91by shummi,After getting a new phone after my visit to Apple about this problem, I did experience the same slowness on the phone when connecting to my home wifi. I switched my security settings on my router to WPA2 and that did the trick! Thanks!

Sep 21, 2014 6:39 AM in response to Mikef91by johnfromsaint clair shores,Well, I thought the change from WEP to WPA2(AES) fixed the problem for good. That is false.
Wifi is still jacked up. There will be times that it is fast like it should be, then other times it is slow as ****.
I did noticed this morning when my wife and I were using both of our iPhone 6's that all of the lights on the router went on, then all of them went off and the thing rebooted. Then, after it rebooted, both of our phones didn't automatically connect back up to wifi. We had to go into wifi settings and select the network. When I did it on my phone, it asked for the wifi password again.
The router I have is a D-Link WBR-2310.
I checked with my friend that also has an iPhone 6, and he is not having any issues like we are having in this thread.
I don't think this is a 100% global issue with all iPhone 6 and 6+'s, but, there is definitely something wrong with a lot of iPhone 6 and 6+'s.

I found an updated firmware version for my D-Link WBR-2310. I was on 1.04 and 1.05 was the latest available from 09/10/08 LOL
I updated the firmware to 1.05 even though I doubt it will fix the issue.

Sep 21, 2014 9:44 AM in response to shummiby wotl,After two restore, I finally switch my wifi router from WEP to WPA2 and it seems to work more or less. It's really random... Sometimes it's just phenomenal, and the next trial is just ******* slow! Something is wrong somewhere in iOS 8 + iPhone 6 and 6+. I have no issue on iPad mini, iPad Air and iPhone 5, running on iOS 8.

Sep 21, 2014 10:18 AM in response to Mikef91by Eric.Suplee,I Wonder, how many of you started your device from a backup from iCloud? I was experiencing this very same issue, I reset my phone as a "new device" and had gloriously fast wifi. I then reset from a backup and had the same issue once again, then reset once again as new and guess what... Super fast once again.

Sep 21, 2014 11:37 AM in response to Eric.Supleeby EdAnuff,There is no fix that works for everyone and many fixes are temporary. Switching from WEP to WPA2, resetting network settings, not starting from iCloud backups, exchanging your phone, exchanging your Wifi router. I took the router exchange approach because I'd been having other problems with my router that made me suspicious of it, and it was under the Best Buy Geek Squad service plan, so exchanging it was an easy solution. Going with an Airport Extreme immediately fixed the problem, and my iPhone 6 was suddenly showing the same download speeds as my old iPhone 5 and my iPad, but since yesterday the performance has slowed down a bit according to the Speedtest and SpeedSmart apps, although still within acceptable levels. Today, Speedtest reports 90Mbps down on my iPhone 5 and 18Mbs down on my iPhone 6, while yesterday, shortly after installing the Airport, both were pretty much tied, with the iPhone 6 a bit faster. Before switching to the Airport, the iPhone 6 was testing at not even 1 down and failed to connect half the time. So, there's still some sort of wifi problem but at least the speed is at an acceptable level, but there's no reason why the performance should have dropped that way.

Sep 21, 2014 12:07 PM in response to sidewindrby sidewindr, update on my iPhone6+:
played around with my Verizon Fios Reuter setting, changed it from WEP to WPA2. Fairly easy and straightforward.
For now the iPhone6 is on par with all my other iPhone and iPads. seems to work for now.. will report back if speed drops again.
for the people that have verizon Fios, here is the instruction.

Sep 21, 2014 12:16 PM in response to Mikef91by scaughtpar,I had the same problem! After switching my router from WEP to WPA2 the problem seems to be resolved. Give it a shot.

Sep 21, 2014 12:32 PM in response to EdAnuffby FKAva1,Same issue here. Its very disappointing. In 2 days that this has been happening I blew right through my allowed Data. Has anyone actually gone to the genius bar? What did they say? I'm assuming Apple just needs to push out an IOS8 update to fix this.

Sep 21, 2014 1:12 PM in response to Mikef91by Jahooba,Okay, just wanted to update you guys on how I fixed this: I bought a new router. I basically just plugged it in, configured an ID and password and everything works beautifully.
If you think about it, the internet isn't exactly exploding with people complaining of wifi problems - with 40 million preorders you'd think we'd be hearing far, far more people with this problem if it was just iOS 8 - So it's likely that we all share something simple in common: we all have old routers.
My old (D-Link 628) router hadn't had a significant firmware update since like early 2011.
Those old routers lose support so they can sell you the new routers that can connect to modern hardware. It's called "planned obsolescence," I believe. Maybe it's iOS 8's fault our routers are now obsolete, but it's hard to blame Apple for choosing more advanced technology as time marches on. I know, it *****.
I got the Netgear N900 and it's way faster than my old router, and at further distances. I got the bigger N900 because of all the devices my family owns, but if you only have one or two people in your house there are cheaper options. The Apple brand was $50 more and didn't do anything special compared to the other ones (according to online reviews).

Sep 21, 2014 1:45 PM in response to Jahoobaby EdAnuff,I don't think it's a problem with old routers, I had a Netgear R7000 before I exchanged it for the Airport Extreme.

Sep 21, 2014 1:49 PM in response to FKAva1by EdAnuff,@FKAva1, I turned off cellular data as soon as I saw this was happening and saw it chewing through bandwidth. Would recommend people do the same at least until after they've finished setting up their phones, downloading apps, etc. since if the wifi isn't working it can switch the the cellular data without you being aware of it.
