IOS 8 landscape bug

I'm on an iPhone 6 but I noticed this on my iPhone5s which I upgraded to iOS 8. Most applications will not switch to landscape mode especially safari and messages. Toggling the orientation lock doesn't fix the issue either and I believe this is a bug.

Thanks

iPhone 6, iOS 8

To everyone still having this bug - contact Apple Support. They won't work on stuff unless they get a lot of support requests. Just use the chat function for support, and you can quickly get a response. The more submissions they get the more items get prioritized. They don't read the forums, and it still sounds like their guys haven't heard about the bug.

Smilerr-Germany you are the man! I was able to reproduce the bug. A reboot indeed fixes it, but then you use Facetime and the bug shows up again. A very easy way to trigger it is to press the home button to go to the home, then put the phone in landscape mode and then double press the home button and select an App that you have open. The App will resume but it won't switch into landscape mode. I can't believe Apple have not fixed it. And to all the people saying this is not a bug, I bet you are not using Facetime!

Nope. Just followed your directions several times and no problem on my phone and yes I use FaceTime frequently. If you believe it to be a bug have you contacted Apple and reported it? If not why not?

Yes, I have an iPhone 6 and a 5S both running iOS 8.1.3 and both phones are able to rotate to landscape and back again during a FaceTime call. I just made a FaceTime call to my wife to verify and both phones worked as expected. As I said before, if you believe it to be bug and have done all the basic troubleshooting steps for your own phone then contact Apple Support or take your phone into an Apple store. I can't stress that enough. Apple does not monitor these forums so if you have a problem that can't be solved here then contact them where someone can discuss the issue with you in detail.

I am probably an even smaller population in that the latest iOS update BROKE the orientation on my phone. Now it switches to landscape almost all the time, even for the smallest tilt in the phone. HIGHLY annoying. I wish they wouldnt fix things that are not broken or at least allow people to revert back to the prior iOS version after a failed update. Huge fail for a billion dollar corporation with massive resources.
