Unable to view iMessage photos on iPhone6

Same problem here, on my iPhone 6, iPad 2 and my daughter's 5 - all running iOS 8.

Definitely a bug. Please report it to Apple as they do not monitor this forum.

if I tap "details" on imessage, most of the previous images are missing and displayed as blank icons (as shown above), as are previous images in the thread.

Logging out of iCloud, iMessage, rebooting has no effect.

HI. I had the same problem. Apple support suggested to do this and it worked for my wife and me.

Close messages

Go to settings, messages. Turn off IMessage

Turn off phone using normal turn off

Turn on phone

Go to settings, messages. Turn on iMessage

aany new message should display picture

I am having the same issue too. The photo is downloading fully but not on that screen. Click on details (top right) and view the attachments and the photos are there.

Same issue here. iPhone 6. The preview of the picture shows when my phone is locked and a new iMessage comes in, but when I go to the iMessage it shows the exact same downloading image shown above. Seems it is an iOS 8 issue?

Restarting iMessage on my iPhone 6 has no effect.

Neither does upgrading to 8.0.2

This affects every iOS 8 user I've spoken to, regardless of hardware.

Can't believe there aren't more posts on the community.

It is October 4th 2014. I was having the same problem. I updated to 8.0.2. I did the 1) turn off iMessage 2) turn off phone 3) turn on phone 4) turn on iMessage trick and it worked for new photos coming in. Can't get the old ones that were texted before this, but that was only a couple.

What "tonyfromcanberra" suggested does work!

One thing to also check is in the settings, under mobile (at the top), scroll down to the section that lets apps use mobile data and ensure SETTINGS is allowed to use this....

Strange that it was enabled on my iPhone 5 and somehow seems to have become switched off in the switch to the new iPhone....

What "tonyfromcanberra" suggested does work! To be clear though, you need to "power-off" and "power-on" the phone.
